  1. Matthew Boyd’s career sure has had an odd trajectory. One thing is clear though, he’s better right now than he has ever been.
  2. Again I’m totally fine with moving Contreras down. Take some pressure off him, too. Move Durbin up, move Collins up, I’m fine with it. Yes, I’ve been frustrated with Contreras at the plate, particularly this series. But the narrative around Contreras is out of control. He has a 97 OPS+ and 98 wRc+ this season, making him literally average offensively, even in a down season. He’s put up 2 WAR on the strength of really good defense. And again, his offense has been average. And we know he has the upside for more when he’s right. He’s proven that. I know people tend to be emotion first and logic second here, myself included, but this narrative that Contreras has just been this unplayable black hole in the lineup this year just isn’t supported by any metrics at all.
  3. I’m glad he got a big hit. I want this team to win games. Nonetheless, I hope we aren’t making lineup or roster decisions based on the result of a single AB.
  4. Really good win in the sense that it would have been a really bad loss. Blue currently shaking his fist at the sports book at the fact that he never got the chance to ring up a Perkins on a 3-2 pitch at the ankles.
  5. Just going to have to agree to disagree, then. I think the Brewers tend to err on the conservative side when it comes to injuries and I certainly don’t consider them among the most reckless. I don’t obviously know the medical specifics of his injury but my assumption is that if they felt he would significantly benefit from a few games off, they would have given it to him.
  6. As I’ve said, I’m fine with dropping Contreras in the lineup, but it’s not like you have 6 far superior options. This board talks about Contreras like he’s Chad Moeller. He’s been meh, not atrocious. Could we use more offense out of him, yes. Is the injury likely costing him some production, yes. Eric Haase is a 32 year old journeyman with over 1100 career ABs. He’s what a backup catcher looks like. It’s not like there’s all this upside there to unlock.
  7. Yeah him and Chourio are really your only reliable bats right now. I can easily see that coming back to haunt Murphy.
  8. Two things: 1 - Seigler has worn his welcome on this roster. 2 - I can’t think of any better evidence that Joey needs to be replaced than the fact that he regularly gets PH for Seigler.
  9. So the player who is far worse for his career and still has an OPS 50 points lower and a batting average 20 points lower than William this year despite William’s struggles is going to be a better option? Seems like more of an emotional move than a rational one.
  10. Every time we muster any sort of offensive rally in this series, we give it right back in the next inning.
  11. As enjoyable as this season has been, if this team can’t win the division, you can just see the writing on the wall for Wild Card. Lose 3 game series. Rinse. Repeat in 2026. If the Brewers were an NFL team, they’d be the Minnesota Vikings.
  12. He's always hit for a lot of power, including a 49 HR season for the Reds in 2019 (and before you say Great American Ballpark, over half of those HR were on the road). So my guess would be variance. Would I expect him to continue to average a 50 HR a year pace, no. But he’d still be the top HR threat in our lineup from the day we acquired him.
  13. While the “fit” questioning is valid, dissecting his HR numbers seems like random statistical noise to me. Chase Field has a lower HR park factor than American Family Field. Of any concern I have with Suarez, his power not translating to AmFam isn’t one of them.
  14. Yeah, most deadlines are like this. A few deals here and there in the days leading up to the deadline and then a flurry of activity in the last few hours on the last day.
  15. Maybe I’m reading between the lines too much but that seems to be code for prepping to dial him back to a reliever role, or at least a piggyback role. That’s really the only way to manage his innings while keeping him up the whole time. There’s no point in keeping him on the 26 if you’re going to shut him down for long periods in between starts. That would just be a waste of a roster spot.
  16. He was one of those short term cult hero type players. I don’t think people fully remember how good he was at everything when he was totally on, though. Power, speed, and defense. His flaw unfortunately was a major one. His bat had an enormous hole in it.
  17. Looks like the Cubs enjoyed watching us lose so much today that they forgot that they actually have to still go beat the White Sox to gain any ground.
