  1. You're just setting us up for K-Rod to put the nail in the season coffin, aren't you Brewers? You silly tricksters.
  2. For (at least) the second time this game. Since when did bunting with 2 strikes with someone other than the pitcher become a normal accepted practice?
  3. Keep on bunting, guys. It's working great.
  4. Maybe it's just me, but I find it hilarious that RR has Seggy, Gomie, Braunie, Frankie, etc, and the one guy whose name actually ends in "ie", he calls "Rick."
  5. I think they've already got that part covered. Also, how is not starting Lyle Overbay a sign of giving up? Lyle Overbay is hardly an essential cog to this offense. You could certainly argue he gives you less of a shot to win.
  6. Double play ball and they booted it. That's our plan for baserunners these days. Just hope and pray that the other team makes mistakes and lets us get on base.
  7. I don't get it. Your offense is doing nothing. We know what Overbay brings. He's a bench guy. You need a spark. Matt Clark is the only one offering anything resembling power this month. He starts to look like he might be able to bring something to the table. And so then....you go back to Reynolds and Overbay?
  8. I am fairly certain they would take Coulter, Arcia, and Taylor for Tulo. I doubt any team would be crazy enough to top that. I think you are greatly underestimating the value of Tulowitzki. You are talking about arguably the best player in baseball at a premium position. These are nice prospects, but very raw, and therefore still much less of a sure thing than a top AAA prospect who has blown through the minors. There's not even a top 100 (as of the last ranking) prospect among them. I would be willing to bet if there were a Tulo sweepstakes, numerous teams could and would top that. I would bet that if Tulo for Coulter, Arcia, and Taylor was an option for us, Doug would pull the trigger within about 2 seconds before they could change their mind.
  9. I don't think it was intentional, but if Volquez drilled our star player twice in the same spot on two consecutive at-bats, I think most of us would raise eyebrows. So I get it. Just wish he had made it worthwhile and drilled Martin twice instead of McCutchen. Volquez should have been ejected after the second pitch at Braun as it was clearly intentional.
  10. You could say to the Rockies, "take any 5 pieces from our farm system" and you're not going to come up with enough for Tulo.
  11. I was talking to a friend of mine back in June. He's a casual observer at best. He couldn't name 5 Brewers. When I discussed the improved rotation, the lights out bullpen, and MVP candidates in our lineup to justify how this team might actually be for real, he simply said, "No, its the Brewers, they'll choke." Doesn't know a thing about the team. But he was right.
  12. I'm fairly confident I can give you a spoiler alert on the aftermath of this season. Mark A. will make no major personnel coaches. Narron might be the sacrificial lamb, if there is one. Melvin and Roenicke will both return. Will send an email out to fans of milwaukeebrewers.com, telling us he is disappointed but he is also gosh darn proud he is of the things they accomplished this season, such as being in 1st place most of the season, to improving greatly on last year's record, etc. etc. He will tell us that they think they have proven that they have the pieces to get it done next season. Next season's team will be more or less a carbon copy of this one. They probably sign a bullpen arm and return Aramis and Yo. It's possible he'll go out and sign or trade for a big name 1st baseman and try to use this as the platform to get us motivated for 2015.
  13. Not to worry, I got my Brewer playoff tickets awhile ago. Should I get a refund on them, or see if I can pick up anything for them on EBay as a novelty item?
  14. Awesome that Russell was not down 0-2 to Broxton because the 1st base umpire obviously was not paying attention and completely blew a check swing call.
  15. Weeks is pretty much the least clutch player in franchise history. Would be shocked if this works out.
  16. I have a hard time blaming Braun for taking a pitch well off the outside corner. That's on blue for being a narcissist who wants to put his mark on a huge game and gets caught up in the emotion of it all.
  17. I think .250/.300/.500/.800 with 25 HR and good defense is a reasonable projection for Clark as an everyday first baseman. If he can do that, I don't see why he would need to be replaced.
  18. He wasn't on the 40 on August 31st, was he? Doesn't matter?
  19. How would they get him on the playoff roster? DL someone from whatever the 25 man roster was on August 31st and use him as an injury replacement?
  20. Seriously, is Clark hurt? They say they're going to give him a shot at 1st, he plays well, and all of the sudden he can't even get a pinch hitting appearance?
  21. Or it was because he was a lefty hitter facing a really good lefty pitcher and Weeks hits lefties quite well. Makes sense to me. To be fair, Clark hits lefties very well. He's not a typical left handed batter who is useless against lefties.
  22. What Mark A needs is a GM that has a vision like this: "Mark, I can't promise you that we'll play competitive baseball next year, or even the year after. I can't promise that I'm going to go for it if I see a hint of a window opening up. What I can promise you is the long-term goal and vision for this organization is to bring a World Series to Milwaukee, and everything I do will be with the focus of that long-term goal in mind. I'm going to dedicate every resource necessary to scouting and development. My MO as general manager will be getting the most out of every dollar we spend on this team, avoiding wasteful spending and exercising patience. I am going to work tirelessly to find us a manager that fits that vision and can maximize the talents of each of our players. I'm only the right man for this if you're willing to have patience, but I can promise you that your patience will be rewarded."
