  1. Well, Casey's up, so I guess 1 is all we're getting this inning.
  2. I seriously can't imagine how painful this is going to be if we score double digit runs today and lose.
  3. Honestly, I think Ax or K-Rod should have come in against Craig to try to preserve those 2 runs. TLR manages these games like its the NLCS. Roenicke manages it like its a sunny day in June.
  4. Anyone for the Brewers have a better night offensively? Only criticism the guy deserves imo is rolling out Narvy, but he didn't throw many pitches - Marcum has been brutal lately, he better be on a damn short leash next time out. Was he responsible for 4 runs offensively? Because that's what it would have taken to make up for the 4 runs he cost defensively.
  5. Ron, next time you want to put Casey McGehee up in the 9th against Motte down 1 with 2 outs, I have an alternative suggestion. You could have one of your batboys attach a clean white towel to a stick. Have him hand it to you. Proceed with it out to the infield, directly face the crew chief, and wave it in the air vigorously. It will have the same result and Casey will be spared the embarrassment.
  6. the guy that doesn't take the field put a player on the field that can't play defense. Put Morgan or Gomez in CF instead of an aging awful defender and that same ace pitches a shutout or gives up 1 run. How anyone could possibly defend Roenicke right now is beyond me. If he starts Kottaras in CF, Prince at shortstop, and Betancourt at catcher, is it not his fault because he doesn't take the field?
  7. It took a complete disaster for RR to see how awful of a decision it is to start Kotsay in CF.
  8. Funny he has to use his teammates to talk smack since he's essentially the one responsible for putting his team in a 2-0 hole.
  9. Let's all overreact tonight. It's like when Prince makes an error and people are like, "I can't WAIT until he's DH'ing somewhere in the American League!" I've been saying that in July when Marcum was lights out. He's a finesse pitcher who relies entirely on spotting his pitches. If his control starts wavering in the next couple years, yes, he's potentially the next Suppan.
  10. I think you're the only one. He hasn't been good lately, at all. Almost a 6 ERA in September.
  11. We can thank the Dodgers who just pulled it off. Now we still can clinch homefield by winning our last two. I think Gibson just lost my Manager of the Year vote. A sac bunt with 1 on and 1 out in the 9th, down by 2? Seriously?
  12. I have a great promotion idea for the last home game, have an on-field athletic contest during the 7th inning stretch with several randomly drawn fans with Casey McGehee's playoff roster spot at stake. It would be great for the fans, and would probably help the team since Roenicke would be removed from the temptation.
  13. #1, I do think K-Rod is being selfish. Not one word about the job Axford has done. Not anything about how good this arrangement has been for the team. Just whining about his role on the team. He couldn't care less about our bullpen overall as long as it means him pitching the 9th. K-Rod, Ax has been perfect since you got here, and he has no margin for error. If he had messed up, you would have gotten your chances by now. He hasn't. Deal with it. Also, you're going to vent to the media about it, but you "haven't talked to Roenicke" about it? I like how he mentions he hasn't talked to Roenicke because it has to be the right time and place, but yet seems to think that saying it to a guy with a microphone in the middle of a pennant race in mid-September is a good time and place. Do these guys have any media relations awareness whatsoever? I do, however, agree that it should have been handled better by the organization. I think they were just trying to do their best to appease K-Rod with him just arriving, while still not offering him the role, and I don't think that was the right move, because now they come across as dishonest. It didn't have to be difficult. "Ax is our closer, he's certainly earned that role with his performance this year. But it's such a huge benefit to our bullpen having a guy like Frankie here who could easily step into that role if we needed him to. " How hard would that have been?
  14. I realize the schedule, and I even see the standings showing us having a 99.5% chance of making the playoffs. Yet I see the standings showing the lead whittled down to 7, and I can't help but ask myself, could we really blow this?
  15. I am stunned. It's like Roenicke looked at his roster, looked at his lineup card and said, "Let's try something that makes sense today."
  16. You never know what you're going to get with Roenicke. He might give you splits from 2003 to determine a lineup, or 2 hits from the day before. He had no problem giving Betancourt days off before last month and in May/June he had no trouble giving Hart at least a day or two off a week for Mark freaking Kotsay. But now that he knows we all want Green and Betancourt has been awful, its back McGehee/Betancourt at #5/#6 every day. It seriously feels like he is trying to taunt us. If this was the "best matchup" and we didn't see Green, we probably won't see him at all. I bet if Green had 2 doubles and a walk in a game, it wouldn't mean squat.
  17. So you really don't think that a guy who put up a 1.000+ OPS in Nashville can put up an OPS better than .644 at the MLB level? I find that hard to believe.
  18. IMO the performance of a fantastic rotation this year (and especially in August) has really masked what a terrible manager this man is. I think the last few days really show that when the rotation performance hasn't been there.
  19. This organization was built on the success and development of its young players (Fielder, Braun, Weeks, Hart, Gallardo). Yet somehow, in the midst of all that, this FO developed a mentality that young players will hurt them in a pennant race. It's very disappointing. I guess it's hard for us to forget how crucial that crafty veteran Jeff Suppan was in September and October of 2008.
  20. Anddddd same old McGehee and Betancourt in the starting lineup again today. Today was a great opportunity to get Green a start. Now I'm pretty certain he's nothing but a bench ornament to Roenicke.
  21. We are 9.5 up in the division in late August and I think our manager is an unqualified moron. Who would've thought? Roenicke has no redeeming value. Actually, I take that back, he has one, his players respect him and will play hard for him. But that can be had out of any "people person". I'd hate to think that our manager's best quality has absolutely nothing to do with him knowing anything about baseball.
  22. McGehee will get a day off soon. And when he does, Craig Counsell will be ready to go.
  23. Yeah, Casey will be entering arbitration next year and he's gone from looking at a possible multi-year, multi-million dollar deal to a possible non-tender. Considering his entire financial future pretty much rests on whether or not he improves from where he's at now, I doubt the threat of him being relegated to the bench is going to give him more incentive to get hot than he already had.
  24. I would like to think for Casey's sake that if it were that easy, he would have been doing it all year, threat to his job or not.
  25. Official scorers have just gotten ridiculous the last few years in their leeway in handing out errors. I mean, the ball is hit hard to Prince, yes hit hard, but hit right to him, and he flat out boots it. And it's called a single.
