  1. I mean I’m sure if the Mets were willing to give us Jett and Sproat for Woodruff instead of Peralta we would have been happy to do that instead.
  2. Insurance in baseball is definitely a thing, but not to where every team is not insuring every contract against long-term injury. Some teams use it a lot, others hardly at all, and it’s not recouping the full value. Impossible to say of course whether the Brewers have anything on Woodruff. Either way, the Brewers like any other MLB team are worth enough money where taking a hit on a $21M contract, as much as it might suck, isn’t crippling to the franchise.
  3. Greg Jones has had his shot. It’s time for Lara to get his.
  4. Offense spots you 3 runs and you just put 3 base runners on for free. It just blows the mind.
  5. Maybe that’s the problem. He’s actually lefty but has never tried it so he doesn’t know how much more natural it would feel for him.
  6. I literally have no expectations when Joey comes to the plate anymore.
  7. Apparently Lockridge doesn’t know it by an inch and a half.
  8. When your OBP is 160 points higher than your BA I’m going to assume you know the zone pretty well.
  9. He has one of the best eyes in the league. If you’re right, you get a pass.
  10. I really don’t think a .445 OPS and 0 extra basehits is helping us win games now. As SeaBass mentioned, he’s already been semi-benched.
  11. I actually think this is about as low pressure of an environment, at least as much as that can be at this level making your debut, as anyone could ask for. He's already secured the bag and his future. Poor performance won’t take that away. The offensive bar for him to meet couldn’t possibly have been set any lower. You could easily argue that it’s just as beneficial for his development to start learning his craft against big league pitching.
  12. This season was supposed to be the season when Ortiz *should* have some positive regression. Instead, he got even worse. I think we need to consider the strong possibility that 2024 was the aberration.
  13. Pratt has been swinging a better bat lately. We know he’s our guy going forward. You’re not really losing anything, so I’d be fine going to Pratt anytime at this point and living through the growing pains.
  14. Nah, better off just ignoring you going forward, it’s no longer worth the time or energy.
  15. Some perspective: on May 17th last year we were 21-25 and had just gotten shut out for the 4th time in 5 games. Given the rash of bad injuries, it hasn’t been as bad as it feels.
  16. Which is a really important aspect to a winning team, I think. The bullpen has stunk, but that’s more variable and fixable. It was interesting that Murphy let Harrison go over 100 pitches today. Maybe it was just a one off, or maybe the pen has left him with little choice, but I hope he loosens the reigns on the starters and lets them start working deeper.
  17. Harrison has been one of the big bright spots. Nice to get back in the W column.
  18. Pat Murphy postgame presser last night: ”There’s no guarantee that we jump right out of this. This might be whatever it might be.” Skip, if that rally speech doesn’t fire up the troops to start turning this around, nothing will.
  19. I agree that you may as well swap Jones out for Lara at this point and see if you can get a spark. It may be harsh, but when you’re the 25th or 26th man on the roster and only got up because of injuries, you either show something fast or get ready to pack your bags.
  20. No one on this board complains more than you. You just complain about people complaining, constantly.
