  1. Yep, shocked it wasn't 4/40. Another signing that isn't really tradeable, and isn't really going to provide anything above mediocre performance.
  2. The problem is the Bucks have to sign someone to get at the minimum cap level which was 85% last year and may increase this year the 2010-2011 minimum cap level was 75% so it can increase. Last year the minimum cap was $49.337 million. Currently the Bucks are at $31,081,659 this is just with Jennings getting the qualifying offer and no other rookie contracts. The Bucks also have some inclusive taxes that they can add to their cap figure which puts it at $35,586,982 for the team which is still under the minimum cap level. The Bucks have to be at the minimum cap level by the end of next season. So the Bucks have to sign someone to get up to the minimum cap level or trade for someone that is an expiring contract and have them count towards their cap. Either way the Bucks are going to have to give someone a lot of money or they are going to have to trade for someone who is being paid a lot. Nope, technically, they don't have to do anything. If they aren't at the minimum cap number, the excess below that simply gets divided amongst those currently signed on the team. Now, mind you, they only have about 8 guys signed right now, so it may be good to get a few more bodies... I have no doubt that our GM, instead of overpaying on a short term deal, will manage to over pay some bad veterans on long term deals. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q15
  3. The Cardinals also won it all two years ago with a rotation which struggled to last just five innings in nearly every start vs the Brewers in the NLCS. They won that ring with great bullpen pitching and good hitting. And a manager who understood that managing in the playoffs was completely different from managing in the regular season.
  4. This article is infuriating. The public are the ones who are outraged by PED use? No, it's irresponsible "news" outlets like ESPN that manufacture false outrage that keep bringing these stories up. And if you shove something down the public's throat long enough I guess people are going to be duped into feeling outraged. *Edit* And another thing, but I'm tired of frauds like Frank Thomas acting all high and might about PEDs when the odds are better than not that he was using to. Please name another player in the history of the game with Frank Thomas's physique who wasn't taking something. Though I guess he needs to shout the loudest so they don't keep him out of the Hall of Fame too. Thomas was 6'5" and 240 or so. He wasn't really that big. There are hundreds of college football players every year who have his physique. Jim Thome has his physique. Adam Dunn is even bigger than Thomas was. Dave Kingman was built similarly. I still don't understand the anger over all this, considering the overwhelming reason that statistics jumped so much is that MLB changed the baseball.

  6. Hit Ctrl+0 That should reset it
  7. So, what changed since then and now when McCalvy reported the exact opposite in February? http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130225&content_id=41977008&vkey=news_mil&c_id=mil
  8. There is plenty of compensation built into the NBA. Sign and trades happen all the time. It's one of the reasons the new CBA is so helpful for the team holding a free agent's rights (they can offer even more money, and the player can get more and get sent to another team). Now, the Bucks front office has proven to be completely inept in their ability to deal both expiring assets or complete sign and trades over the course of their regime, so maybe that isn't the best idea. Going back to 2009 he has consistently botched the entire process.
  9. I just want to be clear on this, he hurt his knee during off season workouts in January, and he should have had preemptive surgery in October to fix the problem that wasn't there. Right?
  10. Like the pick, but again, the complete lack of a plan going forward is glaring. Going young is fine, I'd go buy season tickets tomorrow if they actually went young. They should've been buying up late first round picks and 2nd round picks (teams were offering to sell them off like crazy) and acquiring youthful assets. I can't wait to see how poorly they spend money in free agency.
  11. I go to tailgate, to see my friends I share a 20 pack with, and to see other friends who join us. The product on the field is almost unwatchable, and they keep on trotting YuniB out there. With some of the starting pitchers we've been throwing out there, I don't feel the need to get in early to watch them half the time. This is the first time I've ever missed multiple first pitches (and, seriously, the lines outside of the stadium, even on non-giveaway days are getting ridiculous -- it took 25 minutes to get in on Saturday).
  12. Still rather have Gonzalez than Yuni. Easily.
  13. We knew this the day they got him in the trade in December of 2010.
  14. I just cannot believe we went from a Righty/Lefty matchup, to giving away an out and YuniB. I can't fathom WHY. Cannot. That was a Yostian level of idiocy. I shouldn't care this much, but it is pure stupidity.
  15. Sacrifice bunt to get to the 3rd worst hitter in MLB this season with 200 PA's. Then, contact play with the infield in. Where is Briggs tonight to tell us what an RBI man Yuni is?
  16. There was. The first prognosis was a completely different procedure: Microfracture surgery, which is what Andrew Bogut (and a whole bunch of other NBA players) have had done to attempt to regenerate cartilage in their knees, and would have put him out for at least 12 months. Instead, Hart went with the second doctor's opinion and went with an attempted repair of his meniscus. http://brewersbeat.mlblogs.com/2013/02/13/hart-ahead-of-schedule/
  17. They could have upwards of 26 million in cap space if they amnestied gooden and renounced the rights to all of their free agents. All I can think is, "How is Hammond going to screw this up?" What a great time to be a Bucks fan.
  18. Thornburg was only up for 4 days just 2 weeks ago
  19. I'm going to repeat this question to you, as for the second time you've said "two step process" and ignored my question. Yes, it is a two step process, but when the SECOND PART of the process requires the randomness of the first part to finish, the steps are independent of one another. You do not know where the batted ball is going until the ball is hit. In your "two step process" explanation, is the pitcher is supposed to react to where the ball is going before the batter hits it? It an irrelevant question and I see no point in answering it when the pitcher if pitching properly can block or catch a ball coming back at him like that. So, you've gone from telling me I'm wrong, because the pitcher has more time to react, to telling me the pitcher "if pitching properly" can block the pitch.
  20. Wins/Average Age per level would be an interesting statistic to track going backwards. If only I had the time. ha!

  22. That Rickie Weeks guy is terrible, that bum better give back all his salary he's made today.
