  1. They gave up 31 shots (13 on goal). That's like a hockey game. The US only had 9 with 4 on goal. The offense looked terrible in the second half, it looked like a high school team trying to kick the ball as far as they could down field with 2 minutes to go. I don't think they ever had a single posession the way they did in the first half. You can't win that way against a team like Brazil (heck, against any team, really). If you want to run clock you need to possess, not just clear the ball.
  2. He deserves it if for no other reason then the world needs him in the HR Derby.
  3. What a great draft. I was disappointed the Spurs picked Blair, I would've loved him in a Bucks uniform, but I'm very happy with the Meeks pick. I love Jennings, I was never sure why people were so high on Holliday, the guy couldn't even average 10ppg as a starting point/2-guard in college and his assist to TO ratio was barely 1.5 (129 to 75) I don't care how good his defense is, his offensive game was terrible.
  4. Minnesota has a team and a dome to play in. You can't really compare the two. I've constantly heard the "UW should have a baseball team" argument, without anyone ever saying where they'd play or how they'd pay for it beyond a "Big initial donation and hope it catches on." Come up with a decent plan and maybe people would listen.
  5. Yeah, 2006 Billy, the supersub, when he played 130 games at SS. He played a bunch of positions in 2005, and 2007. But 2006 he was the Shortstop, when he had his best year.
  6. I love it. I love what Hammond is doing. I think we finally have a GM that realizes you're either rebuilding or competing for a championship. You can't do both at the same time, which is what the Bucks have been doing for the last 6 years now.
  7. I should be there. Hopefully my shoulder feels better this week.
  8. If it weren't for Artie Lang, I wouldn't have even known the show had debuted.
  9. I really like Terrence Williams, DeJuan Blair, and Brandon Jennings tonight. All 3 should be available at 10, hopefully the Bucks can find a surprise there.
  10. Jozy (Altidore) is a beast. I love the way he plays and uses his strength up top. Not many strikers can out-physical physical defenders.
  11. The fact that he played ball does not make him an expert. It makes him a former ball player. Just because he writes, doesn't make Posnanski an expert -- there are a lot of BAD writers out there -- its the research and the thought he puts into his articles that gives him credibility in my mind. Harold Reynolds penning an article that seems to say, "I was valuable even though my OPS sucked" is all fine and dandy, I know OPS isn't the greatest stat in the world, but it is a very easy, very quick way to judge a players offensive output.
  12. Its not like he's riding the pine like Cattalanato. He's been up for 33 games, and he's had 82 PA. He's started 10 of the last 15 games as well.
  13. Firefox has a nice little plugin called downloadhelper that you can download and will allow you to save it. http://www.downloadhelper.net/
  14. Anyone playing Ghostbusters? I've heard pretty amazing things.
  15. This is a problem across pretty much every stadium in baseball, you can't have a high walled stadium where shadows don't come across the field when the sun sets. Its just not feasible. Some shots of Arizona's stadium and the shadows there.
  16. Really, its nice that you're drunk.... but at 4am on a Monday morning, I don't really care.
  17. Sabathia, Hamels, Verlander... My definition of an ace: Even during a terrible start (for him) he still gives the team a great chance to win the game.
  18. Turn off the autoplay on your music script/java video/whatever it is. It makes your site come off more like a myspace page than a place I'd actually visit on a daily/weekly basis. If I want to hit play, I will.
  19. They let you buy extra opening day tickets this year?
  20. Have family coming into town. I'm out for this one.
  21. As soon as infield fly is called, the batter is out regardless (unless the ball lands in foul territory). If the ball then hits the runner, the runner is out as well. At least, that's my understanding.
  22. I really dislike these types of articles. If you're going to write "UW needs baseball" tell us how they are supposed to balance title IX and pay for everything, beyond hinting at "Former Alums should donate money".
  23. As a team they've stopped taking walks. You don't win when you don't walk. Plain and simple.
  24. Clearly, there's only one way to quit your job... (Not Work Safe..) From Half Baked...
