  1. Add Vaughn to the "not currently slumping" list.
  2. You could see the frustration on Yelich's face after he was late on that first pitch meatball.
  3. We all did, they were ridiculously red hot in summer. Then the offense went cold later in September into October. I'd rather have the hitting slump now. And this team can pitch way better than the 2025 team.
  4. I agree that it’s a reasonable hypothesis but the sample of pitchers used is quite small (just 38 good and 38 bad). He doesn’t say what fraction of our total ABs are in his sample but it’s probably very small since we face 400+ pitchers per season. A .270 wOBA against the top pitchers is also not terrible. It’s more that we absolutely destroy bad pitching while we are mediocre against very good pitching.
  5. Lara's in and Yelich is batting seventh??? What are we supposed to complain about now???
  6. Last year around this time I remember we were discussion whether the offense was peaking too early. It turned out they were. I'm accepting of their slumping right now assuming they eventually snap out of it. Arozarena was the only bat I would have wanted but he wasn't available and would have cost one of our top-10 prospects.
  7. Not sure what to make of that, but hopefully we learn more…
  8. Yeah that was my bad, he’ll surely be a relief option especially since we added May. He could be used in an Ashby-like role though.
  9. Last August. He was doing 2-3 inning relief outings earlier this year but has been doing 1 inning lately in close games as he's proven himself in a higher leverage role.
  10. Taylor Ward was the type of bat we could have gotten. .740 OPS which isn't much of an upgrade over Yelich's .705
  11. Love love love this pickup. Senzatela transitioned to a cutter/sinker this year and has added fastball velo. I figured it would be a light return because he's owed quite a bit of salary. He's been crushing it in the bullpen this year and can start if needed. Great compliment to Ashby.
  12. Haha, I've been calling for us to get him for at least a month
  13. Seems like I'm one of the few who actually likes this trade. It's obviously a lose-lose here right now because half this fanbase didn't want to give up any prospects of value and the other half wanted a blockbuster and are underwhelmed. We don't know the deal with Skubal yet, we need some leaks. Obviously it feels like we could have beaten the Tigers' package and I agree. I was surprised that he moved on Saturday. My guesstimate take is that the Tigers flubbed negotiations. May was one of my targets but I didn't think the Cards would trade him in the division. I would have taken Holmes also but I'm not surprised the Brewers went with the one who fits their profile. I don't think any controllable starters actually got traded so it's a moot point there, and even if Detmers was available I wouldn't have wanted him anyway. We also got our pen addition as well in the same trade. I don't follow Brewers prospects that closely but it shouldn't be surprising to anyone that we would trade guys who are on hot streaks and rising through the rankings. This organization never does anything except sell high. I don't think it can be fully judged for a while but in the trade deadline thread on prospects, several posters had Ragsdale on the "sell" list. It seems like most wanted to keep Frias around.
  14. Figured it had to be something good for the Cards to trade in the division. This is why Arnold prefers to trade in February, but I think he had no choice this time, everyone expected a move.
  15. The Padres played themselves back into the race recently and they didn't have too many tradeable assets other than Morejon. They can always trade Mason Miller next year.
  16. Oh man, I love this. Also -- what a shock, we pick up a guy with plus fastball velo and extension 🤣
  17. Mod note -- changed to Braxton Garrett
  18. Consider a hypothetical Made for Mason Miller trade - 1 for 1. The Padres would probably do that trade since they were rumored to have asked for the Mariners #1 prospect -- Kade Anderson -- in a Miller trade. We get 3+ years of the best closer in the league, but he's owed arbitration so we'd probably pay somewhere around $35 million in salary for those three years. Assuming Made hits the majors in 2027, the Padres would have him through 2032. Or they could do something like ~9 years, $130-150 million to lock him in through the mid 2030s if he was interested. The only way that makes sense is if (a) the Brewers feel there is downside to Made, or (b) the Brewers are operating on a competitive window plan where they think they have ~2-3 years left. From our small budget perspective, the arbitration salary cost of Miller is what makes this trade look especially bad for us, and that would be the case with any Made trade for an established big league star with a few years of club control.
  19. I think you've beaten the dead horse enough by now. Other than Skubal there haven't been any other true needle moving deals made. As I've said, I'll be peeved if we do nothing today, but I highly doubt we're going to stand pat.
  20. Not paying overinflated prices for rentals?
