    I'd be happy if they give him a minor league contract. However, he's lost a couple miles on his heater since when he was last successful so worried he may be washed up.

    Insurance in case they could not get any RP at the deadline. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. This was really a Yoho for Naylor trade. I doubt Perkins had much trade value. Likely was a DFA candidate.

    Senzetela has a $14M team option next year FWIW. Seems unlikely the Brewers would pick that up unless they trade him in the offseason.

    Jake Burger and his 718 OPS is the big bat you wanted. Vaughn has more than 100 OPS on him this year. That would be a downgrade to our offense.

    That's a lot to give up but I dont think its an overpay, it depends on how you value those to OFs. I dont rate either of them as highly as others do on this site. They have plenty of depth. Too bad it did not help the Rule 5 draft protection as neither had to be protected,

    This one feels painful as the Brewers could have easily beat this deal. JD Thompson and Ricki Moneys would have been an overpay but that is the closest comp I could come up with.

    Crow's last two starts in AAA looked very good. I'd rather try him than give Sproat more starts.

    Sproat's ERA in his last 7 starts is actually pretty good. 3.45 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Even his last 15 he has a 4.48 ERA. The problem is his blowups and that Murphy is pulling him before it gets out of hand. In his last 7 starts, he threw 2, 4,2, 3, 4, 5.1, 6, and 3.2 IP. That's horrible for a starting pitcher and a bullpen killer. Somehow he is 2-1 in those starts. That's thanks to the bullpen and the offense.

    That's fair. I should have checked the stats first cause it feels worse than that. However, in my defense his OBP in the last week is 250. He has been hitting extra base hits, which I will take in any slot in the lineup. Maybe the argument is he should be hitting cleanup. 😜

    Yelich will continue to get chances because he is capable of getting hot for a long stretch. Not too long ago Joey O was the worst hitter in baseball and now we are saying he is "not terribly exciting, but a 2-3 WAR player." If the Brewers are unwilling to give up a on a minimum wage player with minor league options, I'm fairly confident they will give Yelich an even longer leash. If he hits 600 OPS all next year, I could see them eating the 2028 salary and 2029 buyout, but we got a while yet before the Brewers give up on him.

    Yeah, Yelly leading off again is frustrating. Looks like Murph is willing to die on that hill.

    The draft tracker is not correct. The Brewers went well over the their allotment, not just $50k. The tracker shows the original cap of ~$8M but Knaak's slot value needs to be subtracted from that. I believe they used up most of the 5% overage, depending on how that overage is calculated. Is the 5% overage on the original cap or is it 5% over the value after subtracting Knaak's slot value?

    Agreed. Hard to blame Knaak. $600k to a 22 year old is serious money. Carefully invested and he is retiring early. Even if he gets just $10k next year as a Sr. sign, he already got his bonus.

    Yelich is hitting better against LHs than RHs this year. 756 OPS, 110 wRC+ vs LH. Also, he has historically been an above average hitter vs LHs (108 wRC+) so its not as if its a small sample issue. Vaughn has been adequate against RHs (100 wRC+, 716 OPS). Not great, but he is not a liability especially if he is regaining his power stroke after the hamate injury. I dont disagree with platooning them, per se, but its not as straightforward as you suggest.

    I understand allowing hitters to pitch, but its just bad baseball to watch. Especially a guy throwing in the 60s

    So when does Lara start leading off. He would be ideal.

    Frelick has options as well. I would not eliminate that as an option if Lara continues to rake

    I get it, and I wish BA was calling more games. But I'd rather have him for a few games than have a full time bad announcer. He could have left a long time ago, but chose to stay at least part time.

    It would be hard to believe he wont sign at all. He's a College Jr, so if he goes back to college, he will have less leverage as a College Sr. So this is his chance to maximize his bonus. That being said, the Brewers could be really low balling him. This is their best chance to save money for the 14-17 guys. My guess is that is what is happening. The Brewers would be dumb to not sign him because they would lose the cap money and then nothing could go to other player bonuses. I think they will get this done, but it may take until the deadline.

    So Trey or Strosnider (or any 2026 picks) do not crack the top 30?

    Have the Brewers done anything to fix the gap in the wall? Considering how long Lockridge has been out (and how painful that looked), seems like they should have come up with a solution by now. I mean, a bunch of pool noodles would be better than having a gap.
