  1. Nice to not have to use Devon or Peter in this game. That should help for the rest of the series. Not sure how I feel about Bryse yet, but he looked good today.
  2. Awesome that they are serious about giving Black an opportunity at 3B. That could fill a big hole in the future. Surprised to not see Valerio in the lineup. Is he battling an injury?
  3. Ryan Brady skips low A. Those 4 IP in Arizona last year must have really impressed.
  4. They were winless without him and undefeated with him. Can't think of a better case for an MVP for Weimer.
  5. Ballys app currently says "Commercial Break in Progress". Seriously? Could not find one taker to buy advertising for the first game of the season. no wonder they are going bankrupt
  6. I agree. Its not like teams could not have voluntarily chosen to go with 165 players, but I guess then they would feel like they are losing a competitive edge. So let's force all the teams to have less players. Really stupid way of protecting teams that are just being cheap.
  7. Doing the math, the price of more than doubling the pay of all minor leaguers is $2.8M to each team. So roughly the addition of 4 major leaguers at minimum salary. Sad it took this long to do this.
  8. Hmmm. Bigger price to pay than I expected. I assume this means Guerra is making the team. Still, Castaneda probably has a ceiling of a long reliever in ML, so I guess its a fine trade.
  9. I liked it a lot. This new group reminds me of 2000s brewer prospects (Prince, Hart, Weeks, Hardy, Braun). I think this group has similar potential.
  10. Welcome to the site! I visited Seoul and Changwon about a year ago. Everyone I met was extremely friendly and I really enjoyed my visit. I hope to return this year. I am hoping that Sal makes the opening day roster. I truly feel he is ready and is most likely to succeed as a starter. Though a little more time in the minors won't hurt. Looking forward to spring training to see how he does.
  11. I agree with many of these answers if we are talking about success of the Brewers over the next few years. But the question is what is success for 2023? That has to be one thing. Get to the playoffs and either win it all or at least go deep in the playoffs. If the Brewers are not going to make it, then I am fine with trading off a star or two before they leave for Free Agency but I would not call that 2023 Success. That's called failure and trying to make the best of it.
  12. This is a good list. I would put Darrien at AA. He needs to work on his throwing obviously, but I don't see why he can't do that at AA. His bat is ready for a promotion. That would also give Quero more ABs in high A. Tayden Hall seems like he is going to be a 1B/DH. It would be great for him to get a few more tries at C but it seemed like the Brewers moved on (though still small sample). I have him in A+ playing 1b. I'd assume Blayberg will be back in Arizona and he deserves another shot. I'm also excited to see Yannic Walther play. This is the 18 year old german born C we signed late last year. He was sent to DSL but I would imagine he would get a quick call up to Arizona if he does well.
  13. I'm still holding out hope that Mitchell starts in CF and Frelick in RF, with Taylor getting plenty of time as a backup at all three positions. I think this would be the best lineup starting on opening day. We'll see how they do in spring training, but I hope they force the issue.
  14. What made you select Oglivie higher than Jenkins? Seems like Jenkins has a slight edge if you consider WAR and bigger edge if you use OPS. Just curious what your reasoning is.
  15. Ahh, Spring training is right around the corner. Looking forward to the "I'm in the best condition of my career!" statements from players.
  16. If I had to predict the roster today, this is what I would go with as well. Except likely Brousseau over Toro/Miller. If they can find a taker for Huira, then Toro/Miller (maybe Turang) would battle for that last spot.
  17. Dugout 54 is a cool bar with great beer selection, But it's way too small for something like this. I would have gone, but I didn't think I would even get in. Did anyone attend? Curious to hear what you think
  18. Anderson is the guy I was hoping they would sign. A team option would have been nice but I'm very happy with this low risk signing. I think he likely starts at 3b, but I doubt he is guaranteed a job. I would expect his OPS to be closer to 750 rather than the what he did in the last two injury riddled years, assuming he stays healthy. If not, this is a low risk sign and we have additional depth (Turang). We had very little depth and were planning to rely on a lot of rookies. Anderson gives us some coverage at 3b and RF in case things dont go well as we hope.
  19. I knew Moore had good defense but this is another level. If he can continue to hit, he is going to skyrocket up our prospect lists.
  20. Moustakas has now been released, with the reds eating his 22M salary. All it would cost the brewers is league minimum to sign him this year. He and brousseu would make a decent platoon at 3b with urias shifting to 2b.
  21. I'd add Tristan Lutz to the list. Probably his last shot to prove it with the Brewers since he will be a free agent after the season. His star has faded but he still has a shot as a 4th/5th OF that can mash LH pitching. Strong OF arm. He has value and could be useful to complement all the LH OFs this team has.
  22. I rarely click on player interviews because they usually tell you nothing. I'm glad Winker is excited to go to Milwaukee and he said all the right things, but wow, he did not really answer any of the questions. They spoke more about basketball than baseball.
  23. I understand the A's wanted a speedy OF, but its not like the Brewers other 4 ML ready OFs were slow. Chourio, Frelick, Weimer, and Mitchell all have great speed and above average defense. I think I would have traded any one of those guys for Contreras (Chuorio would have been tough) to get a already ML C who can hit like Contreras is rare. FWIW, MLB updated their top 30 prospects. Yeager did not slot (Castaneda slid into the top 30). A's prospects received are Muller (#5), Ruiz (6), Tarnok (11), Salinas (26). So that's quite the haul.
  24. One word, Wow. This is a really surprising trade and the fact Arnold got two additional pitchers back all for Ruiz is crazy. I think Payamps may have some limited value. He has some extreme reverse splits the last couple of years. But he gave up a lot of hits and had fairly low K rate, Yeager looks really intriguing but needs to get some control. But hard to complain we got both of them and Contreras for Ruiz!
