Crap! Forgot about the Hendriks signing. Well maybe they’re looking to put together an absolutely dominant bullpen. But yeah, a starter seems more likely at this point.
Woodruff and Burns aren’t going anywhere so can’t imagine who it would be on the Brewers end. Peralta? Hauser? Hader would probably make more sense but not sure if the White Sox would be after Hader after just signing Hendriks.
It’s pretty obvious where Stearns is going this offseason. Just about every signing so far has been a 26ish year old former high draft pick who just hasn’t gotten it going in the big leagues yet.
I really don’t mind the idea of trading Hiura but would rather trade him for a frontline starter. That plan does make sense though trading Hiura for a 3B and then moving Urias to 2B.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2021/01/07/brewers-attanasio-closes-deal-to-sell-majority.amp.html Mark A closed a deal to sell a majority stake in his investment firm. Would this have any impact on the payroll for this upcoming year? If there was ever a year for him to dig a little bit deeper into his pockets, this would be the year with a lot of teams seemingly not interested in spending much money.
You’re right. The Blue Jays could just sign a reliever but what if the Dodgers or Mets or White Sox swoop in and sign them first? I agree, I like the match with Toronto and as you said, they look like they are going to be aggressive.
Yeah if you’re a team like the Dodgers, why trade major prospects for Hader when you can just buy some pretty good relievers. They are reportedly going after Brad Hand too.
The offseason so far as been painfully quiet for all of MLB, not just the Brewers. I think it was Heyman that tweeted something to the effect that only around 30 of the 300 free agents have struck deals so far. Hopefully things start picking up here in January.
Yeah if you can get Cronenworth that would be great - solves our 1B/3B issues. If you can get Abrams or Campusano in addition to Cronenworth, that would be fantastic. I would be all over that offer.
Yeah still think Hader to the Padres makes too much sense. They have a need for relief pitching and still have most of their top prospects in tact even after all of the moves yesterday.
