    The only news we're getting right now is coming from Rosiak, unless I'm missing someone. It's pretty disappointing.

    From what I have read and heard on podcasts, Ortiz is elite defensively at SS and many feel like his defense would be wasted at 2B.

    Snelling would be nice I guess but that Padres system doesn’t excite me all that much and we’re not getting Salas or Merrill. Would rather keep Frelick.

    I think I read that the Padres are in need of outfielders, which we certainly have an abundance of. I’m just not sure who on the Padres we’d be looking at.

    My guess is they are shopping Mitchell around for a starting pitcher.

    Could definitely still make a trade or two but guessing this is it for free agency.

    I'm generally pretty optimistic but I can't get excited about this one at all, especially if it takes playing time away from one of the youngsters. Other than some nice homerun totals, he hasn't been good offensively in years. This is a strange one.

    Soler would be awesome but I’d also be fine with Yelich at DH and an outfield of Frelick, Chourio and Mitchell.

    Heading down early March and watching two games, one road game in Scottsdale against the Giants and one at home against the Guardians. Cannot wait!

    Agreed. I mean, how far is Arnold willing to take this retooling before he totally pisses off the fans and players? I agreed with trading Burnes this offseason but think it ends there. if we stink at the deadline, then trade whoever you want (Adames, Williams, etc).

    We certainly have the resources to add a starter and a big bat, both financially and via trade.

    Yeah hopefully for some pitching.

    I’m assuming both Hall and Ortiz are locks to be on the OD roster, considering their age?

    I guess I’m not sure why the Royals would want Williams when they’re in a major rebuild. He’ll be gone in 2 years when they might finally be out of their rebuild.

    Yeah and the Brewers have a pretty good track record of developing pitching. I’m excited about Hall.

    Yeah he’s put up very respectable numbers in the minor leagues. He’s been a doubles machine the past couple of years in AA and AAA and doesn’t strikeout a ton. Add in his elite glove and he can be someone to get excited about.

    Will be interesting to see how this impacts Black in 2024, assuming they hold onto Adames. With Ortiz being 25, you have to figure he'll start the year on the OD roster unless he has a horrific spring training. That would make for a fairly crowded infield. Not sure where Black would fit in. I guess maybe DH?

    Sounds like Ortiz could play 2B, 3B, or SS and play them all very well.

    I actually really like Ortiz. Just wish he was a couple years younger. The timing of the trade is just bizarre. After we signed Hoskins, I figured there was just about a 0% chance of Burnes being traded.

    Yeah that’s probably where we are if the season started today.

    Yeah I don’t know about that. I think they’ve had a pretty good offseason being able to address the team’s biggest weakness by signing Hoskins. The bullpen is still really good. I like our lineup even with the young, unproven guys in there. They could probably use another veteran starting pitcher but other than that, I’m pretty happy.

    Yeah and they’ll need to be WAY out of the playoff race. Even if they’re just in the hunt which is very likely, they’re not going to pull another Hader trade and piss everybody off.
