  1. Hmm, doesn't quite explain what it is...
  2. Less time in the system as Braun, but Braun was drafted as a junior and LaPorta as a senior. I think we'll see LaPorta this season, but not until September. (Hopefully, sooner means injuries.)
  3. In fact few realize that Wuertz was among the league leaders in runners stranded percentage by relievers in 07. But is that a skill, or just luck? It may be somewhat skill, but I'll bet he regresses back to the mean next season and doesn't look quite as good. Now's a good time to trade him.
  4. I need to have a kid so I can get the "Small Sample" shirt. Awesome. Down with O.B.P is amazing as well. And congrats to Davebobn.
  5. 1 GHz is pretty slow nowadays. I'd recommend a 2.0 or higher GHz processor (if its AMD, it'll be something like 2200+ rather than 2.2, that means the same thing), and at least 1 GB of RAM if you're just using it for word processing and internet. 1 GHz is already pretty much a hunk of junk, and if not, it will be extremely soon. Probably a stupid question, or at least a very basic one that I should know the answer to, but what does the RAM actually do? Is that what would make programs run faster or is it more of a storage measure? RAM is like short term memory, so the machine doesn't have to delve into the hard drive all the time. More RAM means your computer can run faster because it can retrieve common data off the RAM much quicker than going to the hard drive all the time.
  6. ?Then maybe this makes you feel better:
  7. I like it. Too bad its not true though.
  8. Awesome. Now, just get Braun in the 2nd spot and I'll be very happy with the lineup. Great attitude to hear.
  9. I need to be more witty. Though one of my nickname suggestions two years ago made a FSN North graphic.
  10. Go Bay Port! My alma mater! Oh, wait, they already lost.
  11. remember, WI folks retire generally to AZ, not FLA. Lots of Packers fans here. Chase field usually has huge brewers contingents Wrong, according to this article in Milwaukee Magazine (dated 3/1/2008):
  12. Have we gotten any indication from Yost or the club on who will be considered the starter through April? One would think that Gross would be the main guy, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Gwynn roaming centerfield for 20 games and hitting 2nd. I don't mean to start a Gwynn v Gross debate thread, I'm just looking for thoughts on what they will do, not what they should do.
  13. Yes. I don't put much stock on ST, where guys try new things and are simply getting geared up to perform. Nor to I consider 12 innings when I have over three years of data to use. That data suggests he'll be a solid #4 pitcher for us next season with a mid-4.00s ERA.
  14. Unless he gets it together their is no way Yost puts him in the rotation to start the year. I strongly disagree. I think he's almost assured a spot right now. As for the leash, I think 10-12 starts.
  15. Brianna's in second place, 678 to 648. Vote!
  16. Of course, I go through all the trouble to get this thing downloaded, it finally finishes, and I get an error upon game startup.
  17. That still doesn't address the original issue of being underpaid this year... That was just an illustration. A deal would more likely be paid out like 6-8-12-14 or so. So the benefit is to save maybe a couple million, but also designate some of his payroll number from his last two years over his first two years, and give us a little more flexibility down the road. By 2011, $14 should be a very friendly trade price. I agree that this is all moot though - he would never sign.
  18. The likelihood of a North American Great Ape is on the rise! Seriously, some pretty good evidence for it. At this point, I would say the likelihood of their existence is equal or possibly even greater to them being fictional. Consider the fact that the African Mountain Gorilla was considered a myth into the 1900's...
  19. But what is Howard expected to get the next two seasons? $14M and $18M, hopefully at the most? Give that progression to Fielder, and over the next four years he's set to make: 0.6, 10, 14, 18 = 42.6 million dollars So I'd think 4/40M would actually be a pretty fair deal. Trade off maybe a couple million at the most for that guarantee. But we know Boras would never sign it.
  20. You have to wonder if flosses like fossas is presenting a cover story for an injury that happened during some off-season activity forbidden by his contract - maybe scooter racing?. Even if true, he shouldn't be riding scooters over wet paint anyway. In any event, I'll be wishing for a speedy recovery for him.
  21. Felix Pie missed a couple of days early because of a twisted testicle I had something like this, I think. I was playing basketball, and it didn't get hit, but all of a sudden it hurt like hell, and hurt for about 2 weeks. I thought it might be a hernia, but it suddenly went away in between my first and second doctor's appointment. So who knows. I just hope it never happens again.
  22. This is stupid. What does he expect and why should he? [shake head]
