  1. Way to bring back memories of Mike Cameron. The Cameron play and Brett freakin Myers at the plate single handedly ruined that series for me. Well that and Jeff Suppan. For my predictions; I am scared that virtually everyone is picking MIL in the NLDS. I see two pretty evenly matched teams. That being said; if we win Game #1 I think it is pretty much over. I think a sweep would be a very distinct possibility if we win Game #1. Marcum vs. Hudson, Grienke vs Saunders, Wolf vs Collmenter. No way we don't win two of those 3. Reverse backflip double jinx. I think MIL will go to 6 games with PHI but PHI just has to much pitching and they go on to win the WS.
  2. I imagine some people might be cutting it close getting from MIL to MAD. It is about 90 minutes normally; but having to fight traffic and parking on both ends could make getting in the stadium by 7 pretty difficult. People better bust there butts out to there cars after the game is done.
  3. Holy Crap what a night of baseball. Two epic collapses completed by blown saves
  4. I have a really good feeling about tonights game just because there is so much to play for. Obviously winning means we will be home in the NLDS but Braun is playing for a batting title and MVP, Fielder is playing for a HR title, RBI title, and MVP; Grienke is playing for a perfect home record, Axford is playing for the NL Saves Title. There are just a ton of reasons that the Brewers will come out blazing. I can be the jinx if Jeff freakin Locke shuts us down but we aren't losing tonight
  5. I thought that I made that clear to. Sutton was fine going a little overboard last night altough the "Are you paying attention Milwaukee" line was a little corny/ridiculous. The problem is that he goes way over the top on a ton of calls. You would think they won the world series or were the worst team in the league in the span of a few plays. Charisma and energy are good things; Sutton just has way way to much.
  6. His last 3 starts have been ridiculously good including two agaisnt good offenses in PHI and CIN. He has given up more than 3 runs only twice in the last two months and has given up 2 or less 8 times during that same stretch. Gallardo has been very good.
  7. I never really did notice how obnoxious Sutton was as the Brewers announcer. Its understandable to go over the top last night; but the guy acts like every game is Game 7 of the World Series? Are you watching Milwaukee? Seriously?
  8. Thank goodness I didn't stay up to watch that debacle; just win today and it doesn't matter. Even better would be to put up a ton of early runs and perhaps pull Grienke early enough to allow him to start on Sunday. Just conjecture but I would guess 60 or less pitches would allow ZG to go on Sunday
  9. I am not so sure that Kemp isn't the favorite right now to win MVP. He has 5 more HRs, 12 more RBI's, and 9 more steals. Braun has a 10 point cushion on AVE and a 16 point cushion on OPS. You all know how voters love the counting stats and I am sure most won't even notice that Braun missed 10 games or so. I will not be shocked at all if Kemp edges out Braun regardless of if Braun wins the batting title. My Top 10 Vote would be: 1. Ryan Braun 2. Matt Kemp 3. Prince Fielder 4. Joey Votto 5. Jose Reyes 6. Albert Pujols 7. Lance Berkman 8. Justin Upton 9. Troy Toluwitzki 10. Clayton Kershaw
  10. I get that it was a frustrating loss but the players blew this game not RR. Weeks, Hart, and Yuni all failed to get in a guy from 3rd with less than two outs; obviously Casey & Kottaras didn't come through in the 9th, Morgan misplayed the winning run pretty badly, Lucroy can't hit off of a tee right now, and Marcum pitched like dog poop. A lot of blame to go around tonight. The players blew the chance to go up 2 with 2 to play
  11. I actually took that article in a positive light in that McGehee is not going to be gauranteed a spot in the lineup once the playoff starts. Might as well start looking now at McGehee's splits against the starters for ARI, PHI, and ATl to determine how much playing time he'll get. I bet it comes down to almost exclusively starting pitcher matchups; of course the obvious problem being RR will use stats incurred when McGehee was actually good in 2009 and 2010. If I had to guess I would say McGehee will get 3-4 starts in a 5 game series and 4-5 starts in a 7 game series. McGehee probably has more upside from a productivity standpoint as compared to Hairston but he also has a much lower downside. And despite what the media says; he just isn't a good 3rd basemen. If we are in a position to win a game/series in the 8th or 9th inning it would be nice to see COunsell in there if at all possible. It is what it is with Yuni; we only have to put up with him for another month at most so lets just hope for the best.
  12. So who would be the top 3 starters for ARI? Kennedy Hudson Saunders If I am right I really like our matchups with Grienke, Gallardo, and Marcum. Grienke/Gallardo against Kennedy in Game #1 is a pretty good matchup; after that the matchups would favor MIL IMO. It wouldn't be easy by any means though. As for the Braves: Hudson Lowe Beachy Minor Who knows how they would sort out there rotation but it could be said that we would have the best 3 starters in the series.
  13. Perfect scenario for me would be an ATL/STL play in game while the Brewers finish ahead of ARI for homefield advantage. I think most would prefer to play the Braves rather than the Dbacks in the 1st round but neither team scares me a lot. Obviously the Dbacks are playing good baseball but it seems to me at least that the Brewers just have the better team top to bottom; especially if we have homefield.
  14. Only Sunday for me; sitting in the 200's somewhere. Getting there bright and early Sunday morning; got to take advantage of my last tailgate of the year. Weather doesn't exactly look promising though.
  15. IDK; I think "stat geeks" are almost universally opposed to bunting in all situations. That is one of the areas where statistics apparently show that 9 times out of 10 you are better off not bunting. In real life it is a little different though. I have never gotten into the advanced stats; I live by OPS, OPS+, OBP, K/9 etc and I feel perfectly content that I have a solid understanding of a players performance. I don't really care if people start talking about UZR or WAR or whatever; its just that you can't really trust the stats (and the calculations behind them) unless you are very fluent in math / algebra / etc.
  16. The Ticket Lottery for the NLDS is suppose to be drawn today right? I don't really like my chances; 200,000 entries and they probably have at most 5,000 tickets a game alloted to the lottery. So if you can get 4 tickets by winning; only 3,750 winners for the NLDS. Thats less than 2% of entries.
  17. I am getting more optimistic about all of the matchups; The Phils are struggling all of a sudden, the D-Backs hot streak appears to be over, and the Braves are just so banged up right now. I still would prefer to host the Braves in the 1st round if I had to choose. But the longer the Phlis struggle the more confident I will be when/if we play them. Granted their pitching is awesome; but the offense is really old. If the Brewers had gotten any clutch hits at all last week we should have atleast split. I still don't buy that STL is going to make it. Granted I wouldn't mind if they did though. If we meet in the NLCS ut would be pretty comparable to the Packers / Bears NFC Championship Game. It would be epic but I would be terrified of losing. We would have home field advantage in the series but the way the Cards are playing right now I would be pretty scared of them. Obvioulsy not as much as if we played the Phils though.
  18. If we are going to lose to Philly I would rather lose in the NLCS than the NLDS thats for sure. The Brewers have a good team; but I am realistic that it would be a major upset if anyone other than PHI goes to the World Series in the NL. There offense is far from spectacular so there is some hope I suppose. I would consider the season a success if they fall to PHI in the NLCS; I would be far less happy if they would bow out in the NLDS again.
  19. There are 7 hitters in the lineup who are better than Kotsay. Yet he hits second. That is my major issue. My minor one is not starting Hart, who's OPS (without getting the platoon advantage all season, unlike Kotsay) is 200 points higher than Kotsays on the season. You havea point on hitting 2nd althought there isn't exactly an ideal candidate. Lucroy hasn't batted anywhere near the top of the order all year so RR isn't about to try that. The only other option would probably be Green and we all know by now that RR would rather use a veteran in important spots.
  20. This is Kotsay's 1st start in nearly 2 weeks and only his 2nd since August 22nd; I don't have a big issue with it. As shown Arroyo has some pretty big lefty splits this year; if you want to give Kotsay a start every two weeks; today seems like as good of a day as any. Its not like Kotsay could be considered good; but it seems like an OK time to give your back up a start. RR is starting Green which is nice to see; although Taylor seems to have cooled off a bit from his fast start. The offense has sucked lately; while Kotsay is by no means a good player I don't mind RR rolling the dice and trying something different. Not much of a differnece between losing 2-1 with Hart at RF than losing 2-1 with Kotsay in RF. It almost seems predestined that the Crew will score less than 3 runs in a game right now regardless of who is out there.
  21. Is there something about Utley I don't know? How could that many MLB players not like the guy?
  22. It certainly seems like a weird time to start talking about this. Everybody on the planey probably knows the same thing that Fielder knows so it isn't like this exactly news; just seems weird that he starts talking about during a pennant race with only a handful of games left.
  23. The Crew does a pretty good job of backing into the playoffs. I am not worried about them making it yet; but I am not confident at all that they will get out of the first round. As bad as it sounds; despite the great season thus far I have already switched to football mode. Granted if the Brewers start playing well again I will certainly go crazy during the playoffs but I am just not feeling it. Part of me thinks it is good to get these offensive struggles out now rather than two weeks from now; but another part of me thinks they aren't going to get out of this slump. ARI and ATL are both very beatable; but I am not sure we have a chance against PHI and things certainly seem to be trending toward that matchup in the 1st round.
  24. I get what you are saying here; I am just not sure that the Brewers sacrificed all that much. They are still going to be really good next year. Sure I will be dissappointed if the Crew loses in the NLDS but I don't know that I would consider the team a dissappointment. If they atleast make the NLCS I will be estatic and if they make the World Series I might just have a heart attack. I am not sure what would happen to me if they won the WS. As for the Phillies Series I think a split is certainly attainable. They played well at PHI earlier in the year so they have to have some confidence that they can play with them. We don't get to pitch Grienke against them at home though; that is mildly dissappointing. But with all those lefties maybe pitching Wolf and Narveson won't be awful.
