  1. My early prediction for the starting lineup is this. Not sure who plays what position but I imagine Kidd will be creative. Knight Parker Giannis Sanders Marshall Ersan, Bayless, Henson, Dudley, and Middleton the main guys off of the bench. It seems like a fairly deep team this year and the starting lineup could go a lot of ways. I could see Dudley or Henson definitely in the starting lineup as well.
  2. I already forgot that he was even asked to play 1st. Weeks will always be a butcher in the field so you can't blame him for not wanting to try another position he would be crappy at that would also require a learning curve. Rickie should latch on somewhere; but as an infielder his lack of versatility will shorten his career substantially one would think.
  3. Why would anyone want Gardenhire over RR? Gardenhire never did anything in the playoffs in MN and has lost 90 games 4 years in a row. Gardenhire would be an extremely blah pick to me. I fail to see how he would be an improvement and he has never coached in the NL. Just because he and Washington are big names doesn't mean they are any better than what we have now. Gardenhire was given some really good teams at MIN and made it to the ALCS only once and never even made the world series.
  4. I think RR stays but the hitting coach will be the fall guy for the epic offensive collapse. There will be some turnover in the starting lineup next year; but it is too early to figure out who will be gone and who stays. Weeks and Reynolds will be gone for sure; perhaps Overbay sticks around in the reserve role.
  5. There should be an ample amount of payroll flexibility this offseason. The Crew also has some pretty good trade candidates should they decide to improve that way. I really hope Henderson and Thornburg coming back next year solidifies the bullpen without having to spend a ton of money there; but I am guessing DM spends some cash there.
  6. Gallardo's option was a no brainer pick up; Aram's is probably the same. You couldn't get a pitcher of Yo's caliber this offseason without committing far more years and more money.
  7. For as bad as the end of the year was; it still sucks when the calendar turns to the first page of the offseason. I am not sure if that is optimism; more love of the game I guess.
  8. I just hope come January 1st everyone here is in a much better mood. There is no way DM and MA stand pat this year; they will rationalize that we were so close and it will just take a couple of pieces to make us a true contender. I am putting a 95% chance on both RR and DM being back. DM always overcompensates for weaknesses so it should be a stone cold lock that he brings in one or two good offensive weapons. The playoffs can't get done soon enough now; time for the Winter Meetings in December!!!
  9. 1. Resign Ramirez 2. Find an actual 1B 3. Find a good super utility player for SS and 2B 4. Trade one of Garza or Gallardo; don't really care which 5. Sign at a minimum 2 proven bullpen arms 6. Invent some hand procedure to fix Braun's thumb; or invent an untraceable PED I would put some feelers out there just to see what a return might be on Gomez or Lucroy but I absolutely wouldn't trade them unless it is a monster haul. If you find a good taker for either one of them then perhaps you go all fire sale. But I think this team is close enough and has the budget to fill some key holes and be competitive next year.
  10. I think DM and RR generally do a decent job and finding upgrades over them would be an issue. Just my thoughts. I also think those expecting DM or RR to be fired are going to be disappointed. I just don't see Mark A pulling that trigger. The club had had a good attendance year and were in the race for virtually the entire year. 2013 was far more disappointing than 2014 and Mark A didn't fire them then.
  11. It all comes down to what the best combination of RF and 1B players we can get this offseason. If more and/or better options are available in the OF I would be OK moving Braun to first. If you can find a good 1B then just leave Braun out there. Just do whatever you can to put the best team on the field. You can probably throw 3rd base in the mix too if you wanted to move Aram to 1st. All options should be open IMO.
  12. Apparently Gallardo wants to end this today; hopefully he gets out of this
  13. From everything I have read they at least want a site picked out by the end of the year. There is virtually no chance anything related to money comes out before the November elections. I would guess both Walker and Burke would publically oppose spending public money on this just so they don't piss off the voters. I still believe any amount of public money is going to be an uphill battle. I am not from Milwaukee so I don't really know any better in regards to which site might be better over the other. The biggest things for me would be ease of access of the freeway and the availability of parking. Having some nice restaurants around the facility would also be a big plus.
  14. Cashner vs. Petit tonight (Close matchup) Ian Kennedy vs. Vogelsong tomorrow (Pretty close matchup again) Eric Stults vs. Peavy on Saturday (Favors Giants one would think) Robbie Erlin vs. Madison Bumgarner (Huge advantage to Giants) Perhaps their is a reasonable chance the Brewers are still alive on Saturday. But that matchup on Sunday favorites the Giants a ton. The Brewers can only hope that if they lose the next 3 they come out on that Sunday scared to death of choking. Of course the Crew still have to win there games.....
  15. The only positive I can think of right now is that with better hitting stats perhaps other teams will think our hitting prospects in AAA are better than they really are. Probably pie in the sky but maybe it helps DM with trades in the future. It would be fun to see how many homers guys like Roache, Coulter, and Denson could hit.
  16. The Brewers will be 1 of only 6 NL teams to have a winning record this year. I guess that is something.
  17. Yikes, training camp starts next Tuesday already and the first preseason game is I think 2 weeks from today. NBA season sure came on fast; its like the last one never ended.
  18. Krod could very well return too; at least it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe someone is willing to give him a multi year deal as a closer but I doubt it. He might come back at a reasonable price. The key next year is the health of Thornburg and Henderson. If we had those guys the entire year this year things might have ended up differently.
  19. I think they just need a super utility player that can push both Segura and Gennett. I don't know who that would be but I would like it to be someone that has at least the capability to be both an average SS and average 2B just in case either Segura or Gennett flame out in 2015. I don't think we have that player in the system right now. We don't need 2013 Segura for him to be valuable; but he needs to be better than 2014. I also have no idea if the Brewers have any intention at all of finding out of Gennett can hit lefties.
  20. Is it bad that I literally watched 0 pitches last night? Everything just seems so inevitable right now that I can't even bring myself to watch the games. Braun has really stepped up his game when the Brewers need him the most. Jeez.
  21. I also don't understand why anyone would consider the Brewers a sorry franchise. Yes they haven't won a title but in the near term they have been consistently competitive for about 6 years now and went to the playoffs 3 times. There are many franchises in all sports that are in much worse shape than the Crew. The team has a nice stadium with a pretty solid fan base. The fact of the matter is that if the Brewers didn't play unsustainably well in the first half and rather played pretty much .500 baseball the entire year and ended up at the record we have now no one would be all that upset. This is about what everyone expected coming into the season. Maybe this is a 83-85 win team and if things break right they can make the playoffs. That's basically where they are.
  22. So my little girl has been sick the last 2 nights and we had to hold her the entire night. I never watch movies because when you have two little girls when you can rent and watch a whole movie at once. My thoughts Anchor Man 2 - Frickin terrible. I really loved the 1st one but the second was pretty lame. A couple decent jokes but it was pretty blah Noah - It was entertaining for what it was; but I was expecting it to follow the biblical story a bit more than it did. I was surprised with how dark the overall movie was and the rock people were kind of over the top ridiculous. I was also pretty off put with the "Noah is going to kill his grandkids" storyline. Really? My little girl is still sick so it will probably be another middle of the night movie again tonight; I was thinking about Gravity.
