  1. Dyer field is about 6 minutes from my house and a man can never get enough softball, it'd pretty much be stupid for me NOT to join this second league, eh? Hmm...
  2. 1. Mets 2. Diamondbacks 3. Rockies 4. Phillies 5. Cubs 6. Dodgers 7. Brewers 8. Reds 9. Padres 10. Astros 11. Braves 12. Cards 13. Nats 14. Giants 15. Marlins 16. Pirates
  3. Enter sgtcluels in t-minus 10, 9, 8, 7....
  4. This happens to me a lot ... maybe it's already been reported or maybe it's just me: - Read a thread without being logged into the message board - Draft a Quick Reply at the bottom and try to submit it - Get prompted for login credentials - Supply valid credentials, but get a message from Yuku coded with 404 and stating "This topic has been removed or deleted" Just kindof frustrating. FYI, I think sometimes the reply goes through when this happens, while other times it does not.
  5. Well, what's important to remember is that 3,000 people commit suicide every day throughout the world. I think "event" is a bit much. This isn't a once a year thing, it's a 1 million times a year thing.
  6. Why did I only just now learn of "Basketball Jones"??? 27.5 wasted years. "I need someone to set a pick for me at the free-throw line of life." My life begins today....
  7. How about signing Cirillo to play 3B when facing lefties? Just a thought. It all still feels like nonsense when we have a mis-cast outfielder on our roster who would be just fine playing 3B.....
  8. I've never tried it, but Pediasure is supposedly a great hangover cure .... better than Gatorade. For me, I'm best off if I drink a ton of water before bed and get 9 hours of sleep.
  9. Sorta wondering why the Mets didn't just sign Kendall instead of having a short-term solution with a shakey history in a deal that required giving up a player. I'm sure there's lots of reasons, but it makes me think that one of them is that Kendall is going to get a lot more than $3.2 million a year.
  10. Well, Wilkerson and Hinske are avilable.......
  11. Your link didn't work for me, so, clickable link: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/591759,CST-SPT-cubnews07.article
  12. Go with a Mazda3 or Mazda6. Cooler looking and more original than Toyota/Honda with the same quality.
  13. I don't understand how any non-season ticket holder can expect to have more than a 1% shot at World Series tickets anyways. I mean, demand is through the roof and there's only so many available seats. When the World series was in Chicago two years ago, me and three friends tried desperately (and seperately) to buy tickets online the minute they went on sale but it was a lost cause. Which was no surprise. I always figured it was a needle-in-the-haystack situation when it came to buying at-large World Series tickets.....
  14. It's so painful to see three Brewers on that very, very short list. As Silver points out, FRAA is a counting stat, so not only should Braun's figure be worse, but so should Hall's (only 116 starts). The Hall-to-CF move has grinded my gears since day one ... we can't be in "win mode, not experiment mode" as long he's still out there Scotty Smalls-ing it up. I know Hall's stock is low, but I'm hoping we can find a team that needs a shortstop and can give us pitching or an OF that can solve CF better than TGJ or plug a corner and let Corey play pretty much full time CF. What's kindof depressing is that this team's defensive WOAHS are almost insurmountable for a team that's supposed to be contending. Fielder can't go anywhere, should probably be DH-ing already. Braun's never played outfield before and his time at 3B has been garbage. Hall's never played an entire season at 3B before and his first year in CF was abysmal. Weeks is still below average just trying to handle 2B. It's like we're drowning in talented bats that are all fielding the wrong position and there's no correct way to sort them out. Trade and sign strikeout artists for starting pitching, I guess???
  15. http://www.offthachain.com/images/coocoocal.gif Coo Coo Cal, FTW!!!!11one
  16. I've been with them since 1995 and saw them all the way back to their very first tour in like 1999 when they were playing small clubs and doing their very best to put on an actual theatric/dramatic show. It's so great that by now they're playing arenas and performing for thousands every night. I think Paul O'Neill is one of the greatest songwriters of our time, and the fact that mostly all his works get crafted into wondrous and majestic stories/rock operas/concept albums is a delicious bonus. If you don't have the albums Christmas Eve & Other Stories and The Christmas Attic, go buy them and start spinning them, especially after Thanksgiving. They're probably two of the top 25 cds in my collection of 800. Their shows are great, but be prepared for some sacharine-sweet and Broadway-style dramatics. Rock/metal music, well-written songs, great stories to tell, symphonic bombasts, great singing from several vocalists, slow songs, fast songs, light songs, heavy songs, exciting light show, and Christmas magic everywhere. It rules.
  17. After being out of town I *finally* watched last week's episode. Very, very good. Definitely better than the first. But count me among those that thought the driving-into-the-lake gag was pathetic and dumb. That's the kind of impossible, cheap humour I wish they'd avoid. Besides, who couldn't see that joke coming a mile away? It was a big *groan* moment for me. I also thought their trip back to the lawyer's office to throw a tantrum and take back the basket was immensely stupid. Kept waiting and waiting for a point to that seen ... never came. But those were just two small moments of bad amonst a heck of a lot of good/great.
  18. Me too, like never pulling Jenks/Mench for an advantage late in the game, or not using Jenks/Mench in the strict platoon they should have been, using Turnbow in situations he is not built for (runners on, back-to-back days), and generally over-using our best relievers (either by bringing them into the game or simply warming them up) during games they were unlikely to be needed in. And sending runners like Bill Hall to steal bases. Or sending anyone with Braun/Prince up to bat. Or pulling Braun too early to take his bat out of the lineup. Or not using Cordero for non-save situations. Or getting into a bean-ball war when we're facing elimination. Or batting Estrada 5th for forever. Or never pulling Rickie or Billy for defensive replacements. Or just generally standing there with a "What, Me Worry?" idiot-face when he chooses the wrong reliever for the 50th time.
  19. I would say he's a "forgets the yeast" baker. Has all the right ingredients but can't get them to rise to the occassion in the end.
  20. Well, he's definitely right about the "folding like a beer napkin" part. I know I'll never forget, alzheimer's not withstanding.
  21. Boston over L.A.o.A. (4) New York over Cleveland (5) Chicago over Arizona (3) Philadelphia over Colorado (5) Boston over New York (5) Chicago over Philadelphia (6) Chicago over Boston (7) EDIT: Soriano WS MVP
  22. Watching the Florida football game. Is Florida's student section full of nothing more than fake, air-headed girls who look like they should be on MTV's "The Hills"? And their quarterback's name is pronounced "T-bow". God I hate Florida. C'mon Auburn.... EDIT: And now a bad call that goes Florida's way in crunch time. You just knew this was going to happen. Always does for Florida. Grrrrr.......
  23. Not really. The Brewers didn't give it to us as much as the rest of the division gave it to us. If we're 81-81, 82-80, or 83-79 to end the season, in this laughable division, then I'm pretty apathetic about it. If we were 20 games below .500 in September, but somehow still a game or two back of first place, I wouldn't be looking to praise the team either. It's AT MOST going to be two games better than 2005! And 2005 didn't have the monumental, heartbreaking, frustrating, inexcusable collapse. And the competition might've been stronger in 2005.
  24. Stupid bird, I never should've left you in charge!
  25. Our players deserve credit for the division being absolutely terrible? Because that's the only reason there was any hope in 2007. Not to mention that despite the terrible competition, we were still only a .500 team! I'm certainly not proud of anything this Brewers team accomplished this year, I can't believe anyone would be. I'll be at the game with a very "meh" and ashamed attitude.
