  1. God Darin Erstad is a punk...of course his 80 ft. single keeps the inning alive...
  2. When I read this thread title I thought it was implying that Macha should pick a nice borderline call to argue and pump up the team. I'd be more in favor of that, especially if it happened at Miller Park. Pitchers who are not throwing strikes are the last group I want the manager yelling at. That part is for us as fans. It makes us feel better. If control problems exist into May and June and not just now as a part of a regular April (thanks for the insight Ennder), then lets call on Castro and co. to work on nthe guys' mechanics.
  3. 1. I will never call any Brewer player worthless or anything of the sort. 2. I will minimize my criticism of announcers' idiocy and reliance on cliches and accept that they just have 3 hours to fill and sometimes need to say some weird stuff. 3. I will never respect Twins fans, even though I love the Cities.. 4. I will try not to laugh triumphantly at the doubters when Rickie goes .290/.375/.510 with 25 homers and wins a Gold Glove (sorta kidding...)
  4. Must...work...on...paper...Can't...stop...listening... The 2005 one was awesome, but last season's is on a whole new level. Chills, man.
  5. One of the strangest, most awesome-est, buzzer beaters ever...and who else but Devin Harris to sink it.
  6. Don't sweat it if you don't hear anything by then, and have to wait 'till the 17th or 18th or whatever the following Saturday happens to be. It's how it worked with me, and based on me and my friends experiences, admissions offices in general are not terribly keen on expedience (I was also supposed to hear back from the School of Ed in April...found out I got in at the end of May). I can't remember if I've shared it here or not, but my admissions experience to UW was odd. I'm a white male from a Madison high school (two checks against me already) and I had a 3.4 with a good ACT. I got waitlisted...then rejected...then a month before school was supposed to start in LAX I got a call from UW that I had been accepted. If you really wanna go to Madison, show them how badly you want it. Good luck with your decision, and know that transfering (within the UW system) is actually pretty easy. Tons of people do it every year, so don't sweat that too much. Just use your first year to explore and see where you fit in...It's an exciting time.
  7. I think we'll barely break last years record, mainly because of our September schedule. Those September weeknights can be rough for getting people out to the ballpark, and those days usually bring the avg. attendance down a bit, but this year our midweek September series are the Cubs and Cardinals.
  8. My roommates and I have cats named Carsten and Charles, so we've got your feline fandom covered.
  9. Minnesota sucks.
  10. Like I said, my grades are partially based on expectations. Parra and Torres both had pleasantly surprising seasons. Sheets had a Sheets season. B- isn't bad by the way, and I've always loved Sheets.
  11. Absolutely. The 3 starts you mentioned were a special time in Brewers history and I wanted our one good player from the lean years to be there. He had a good year, but not having him there in the end was upsetting. B-
  12. ***These grades are relative to expectations / playing time. So if you see Rivera as higher than Fielder, it's not 'cause he's better.*** Kendall (B) - Great pitchers' pitcher + awesome caught steals rate makes for a solid year despite low OPS Rivera (incomplete / B+) - Only 62 at bats makes this hard. HUGE 3-run double vs. Washington Fielder (C+) - You could go many ways with this one. On one hand was frustrating defensively...On the other was our only good OBP guy, and 34 homers is hardly a disappointment, and for a while was our only good OBP guy. Weeks © - Walked a lot, I guess. Counsell (C+) - Amazing last week of the season ups the grade a bit. Hardy (B+) - Quietly had a good year Hall (D) - Was 2006 just a huge fluke? Branyan (A-) - Responsible for our only offense in June, it seemed. Braun (A-) - Smooth transition to left. Hero in the last few days of the season. Cameron (B+) - 2nd highest home run total of his career, even though he missed a whole month. Kapler (B+) - Solid 4th outfielder, and had a great April when Cameron was out. Hart (C-) - Became a free-swinger. Bad season. Sabathia (A) - If I gave out A-pluses, He'd get one. What a legendary sign. We'll be talking about it for years. Sheets (B-) - What started as a career year ended up as another sign that he is made out of glass. Gallardo (incomplete / A) - He was the man for those few starts he made. That playoff game was actually pretty good. Parra (B) - Lucky 1st half caught up to him. Suppan (C-) - Mediocre to bad all year. Bush (B-) - Solid 1.14 WHIP. Flirted with no-no. Villanueva (B) - Bad starter, but another solid BP year. Mota (B) - Ol' blue glove was unpredictable, but okay. Gagne (C-) - Terrible for most of the year. Solid finish. Torres (B) - Our only good BP guy for a while. McClung (B+) - Came outta nowhere and was a great starter. Great last few weeks. Hero that last Friday. Shouse (B+) - The Hardy of our bullpen. Quiet, solid, year. Riske (D) - Got hurt and had a down year outside of that as well.
  13. -3rd Base (Hardy?) -Bullpen / Closer (McClung?)
  14. Hardy's great arm would be wasted at 2nd. I like JJ at 3rd with Escobar at Short.
  15. May 18, 2008...We get swept in Boston...thousands of Brewers fans, including wisconsinfan47, witness the trauma live at Fenway...I thought the season was pretty much over...no pitching, decent hitting = 75-80 win season...Then, starting pitching heats up. We get CC frickin' Sabathia, the best pitcher in baseball, and it look slike we've got the WC locked up...we collapse...we somehow make it up. Wow. Last Sunday was one of the happiest days of my young sports life...right up there with Super Bowl XXXI and Badgers making the Final Four and a triad of Rose Bowls. Thank you Brewers. Thank you so frickin' much. Here's to another 3 mil and 90 wins next year!
  16. Burrell is just as dangerous as Howard IMO...That intentional walk sucked.
  17. OMGG ITS GONNA HAPPN GO CUBSS GO OMG OMG, THIZ ISZ AMAZIN' Oh wait... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Our best chance to steal one is today...I think we'd lose at least 1 /2 in Milwaukee, so winning today is huge, especially with our ace on the mound.
  19. Of course, but it'd be cool to "retaliate" in some way at MP.
  20. We have a rested bullpen, and we get another day of rest on Friday. Our full BP will be fresh and we can use it liberally. No need for another arm when you can get Nelson's occasional pop.
  21. No worries, Yovani's no-hitter will be over by then.
  22. White Sox beat the Twins Rays beat the White Sox Angels beat the Red Sox Phillies beat the Brewers Cubs beat the Dodgers Angels beat the Rays Phillies beat the Cubs Angels beat the Phillies
  23. It's been said many times, but much of our pitching success is due to Jason Kendall.
