  1. You'd think he's done after 7, whereas Civale could conceivably go 8 if this inning is quick. When was the last time we had 2 8-inning starts in a row? (Yes, I accept responsibility if this inning goes off the rails.)
  2. These are like polar opposite examples in how to succeed at pitching.
  3. And he's attacking - 4IP, 53 pitches, 38 strikes
  4. 63 pitches after 3 is outstanding for having no hits yet.
  5. Nothing to show for it so far, but some great long ABs to drive the pitch count up.
  6. I don't know that that's ever a start time. 1:10 is the standard start time for their home day games
  7. I'm not going to feel bad for them, but the Dodgers pitchers currently on the IL: Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Emmet Sheehan, Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin.
  8. ...and then Hall takes a comebacker to the forearm which should delay his return at least a little bit, assuming x-rays are negative.
  9. I haven't seen anything explicit, but I'm sure Mark A's answer is going to be the same as it has been every year - there's room to add for the right player, especially given that their payroll is down a bit this year.
  10. Walked instead of hitting a triple? Lame.
  11. Flaherty discussion can go in the rumors forum. Hiura discussion will go wherever it pleases, resistance is futile.
  12. Agreed, which is surprising because it felt noticeably different (more stressful) to me (not that I'm one of the pitchers facing them :)) trying to get through their lineup compared to other teams - reminiscent of Atlanta last year. Still, the pitching staff generally did a great job except for Will Smith, and much like the Philly series, it was encouraging in that we were right there for most of the series, even if we only won one of them. Between Philly's pitching and LA's offense, they're both formidable teams, but you can certainly see a path toward an upset either way, or an outside chance we squeak past LA for the #2 seed.
  13. I think you accurately explained why these wouldn't seem the same at all.
  14. Maybe we should just walk Smith next time.
  15. Since there's a paywall, can you give a main point or two?
  16. McCalvy's Keuchel article gives me hope that we shouldn't put too much stock in that outing. https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/dallas-keuchel-s-whirlwind-journey-to-brewers “That first inning the other day, I was all amped up. Did well, but it was an out-of-body experience, even with all of the experience I have. Inning two, I thought I was going to settle in, but I let it get away a little bit. Luckily, I was able to corral it. “Inning three, I was wiped. But I can’t tell ‘Murph’ [Brewers manager Pat Murphy] that I’m wiped in the third inning. So, it didn’t go how I wanted it to go in the fourth, but now I have my feet under me. I’ll be able to focus on what I like to do.
  17. For sure, definitely not something you typically see!
  18. I don't know if he is this person, but I imagine some players out there might be swayed by the CC Sabathia argument: Sure, you could go to the Dodgers and be a final piece that helps them get over the top - so what? They should win. Or, you could go to the Brewers (or similar team), put them over the top, and be an absolute legend forever. Given that the Brewers and Dodgers aren't that far apart this year, maybe that holds sway with some players.
  19. I missed that, are you saying why did they come out there at the same time? I assume it's the number of visits that matters, not how many people come out.
  20. Brewers.com has a running injury report article that's updated every couple days.
  21. Both of them are absolutely clowns. No accountability, brains or braun. Clearly the Brewers talents made it easy for the noodle brain Counsell when he managed 90 miles north. I can see how Braun would be relevant to GM or manager's success, but assuming you meant brawn, what exactly is your argument there? In any case, if all you're going to do is call names, don't bother making the post at all.
