    I think it was Neyer who put up a post saying that while the latter half of the game was brilliantly managed by TLR, he put himself in that position in the first place by starting Carpenter on 3 days rest when a perfectly rested Garcia was available.

    When he left Kennedy in I assumed they'd just walk Prince and pick to Rickie. That's a dumb move right there, and then he pulls Kennedy anyway. At least bring in the lefty first!

    Via Neyer's blog post, found this study on the effect that catchers have on strike/ball calls. Specifically calls out Jose Molina and Lucroy for their very good receiving technique.

    Forget that. Let's play Atlanta so I can go to a game or two. EDIT: Wait! How about a compromise! Atlanta in the NLDS and Arizona in the NLCS! Even better (except for you) - how about we beat AZ and STL beats Philly, setting up an extremely chippy NLCS.

    TH added a blog post about this today. Basically DM says that given Prince wanting to play every day and Green's presence, there wouldn't really be any opportunity for him to play anyway. And it's not like he's going to be on the postseason roster, so if there are other opportunities they'll give them to Kotsay et al to prepare for the playoffs. You could certainly argue that Gamel should have been up much earlier, but it's not really going to matter much what 5 ABs he happens not to get in the last 3 weeks.

    I couldn't find the article, but back when they made the switch in July Hart stated that he asked to be moved out of 5th because he just doesn't like it and it's something mental. Certainly it shouldn't matter at all, but apparently it does.
