  1. You gotta love those boo-happy fans. They can't go 5 seconds without screaming, "It's my right!" but how dare a player express that he doesn't like it. Must be because he's mentally weak! Another reason to boo him! I think Brewer fans are running the risk of giving Milwaukee a reputation for being a bad place to play. We know... IT'S YOUR RIGHT!
  2. Then i said we should be worried about this team. What about the part where you said you wanted credit WHEN the Astros win the wildcard? Why should you get credit for saying something that you realize has a very good chance of not happening?
  3. It's not going to take long for someone proclaim, "It's my right to boo!"
  4. I don't see why making random changes is some kind of answer. You play your best players and hope they start hitting.
  5. I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that sucky pitchers can go on a 2 month hot streak so I think the Astros pitching could hold up this year but sooner or later (hopefully sooner) they will start to suck again I wasn't disagreeing with anything you said. They certainly could keep it up. If they are bad pitchers, though, I wouldn't expect it. That's all. and the astros agian are winningf and going to gain a game on the crew ,jsut want credit when the astros take the WC It seems like a popular pastime on the internet to make a bunch of bold predictions and then want to get credit for the one or two that actually prove correct. If I have you all wrong, I'll tell you what... I will bet you some cash that they won't. I'll even be nice and give you 3:1 odds. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Loser donates to brewerfan.net. One of these days, someone is going to take me on one of my wagers!
  6. Really, that third run is not some huge dagger. Guaranteed being down by 2 runs going into the 9th was the big dagger. How much of Prince struggling has to do with Hart pretty much being a non-factor at the plate since the All-Star Break? None at all? You realize Cameron has been our best hitter recently right? KKKameron? Are you crazy?
  7. Well, I think it's the offense's turn to bail out a subpar performance by the starting pitcher. It's been awhile.
  8. By my estimates, the Brewers will raise their playoffs odds by an average of 6% with a split of this series: http://rluzinski.blogspot...g-is-phillies-series.html Sold!
  9. Unless Yost is questioning the effort of his players, it would be a waste of time.
  10. Statistically, I don't see anything obvious that might signal that he's wearing down. Walk and K rate looks solid August-September. Pitch f/x data would be a good thing to look at in this case. Is his velocity down? Does his stuff still have the same movement?
  11. I think they give an NL manager a lot of flexability. I don't think Yost is really utilizing them properly, though. Kendall should be pinch hit for in close games, for instance. I also think that Yost is trying to save his better pinch hitters for later in the game. If you have men on first and second and no out, it doesn't matter if it's the 6th or the 9th. Give yourself the best chance to score.
  12. I'm supposed to find someone to blame for the Brewers most likely winning 90+ games this year? Where to start... If this thread is specifically about the recent 3-7 stretch, there's nothing fundamentally different about the team that hard a hard time losing less than a month ago. How about blame the same things that let the Brewers tear off a bunch of wins in August? Sometimes, players overperfom and/or balls just bounce the right way for a team. Sometimes, the opposite is true. Baseball fans just have this terrible habit of always having to find something to explain a losing streak, when more often than not, it's just random variance. And if I'm supposed to find blame for why this team is probably going to win 90+ games this year, I'm sorry but get some perspective. How many wins SHOULD this team have? "and hit only for power with low BA and OBP." I swear that some of you guys don't realize that the offense isn't below average. There are only 4 NL teams (Cubs, Mets, Philli and Cards) averaging more runs/game than the Brewers. You might not like watching the offense but they are finding ways to score runs. That's a lot more important to me than looking pretty.
  13. They had a 3 game lead on Philly this morning, if they had lost today and Phillies win, then were they to lose 3 of 4 in Philly they would have been tied. I said: "I meant one of 4, obviously. 1 of 3 would result in 100% chance of the Brewers still having the top spot in the wildcard race all to themselves." "Houston has played very well, they seem to be doing it with smoke and mirrors but they are getting the job done. Their pitching was god awful but somehow those same pitchers are all of a sudden good. I just hope Wade thinks these same pitchers will duplicate their 2nd halves next year, because they will most likely not be able to duplicate this." If they aren't good pitchers, they most likely won't keep it up this year. That's the thing people are missing when they say, "But they are playing really well right now!" If the Astros have players overperforming, they are more likely to revert back to career norms than continue to be "hot". Now many times does a team have to flip back and forth between hot and cold in one season before people realize this?
  14. Brewers lose today and lose 2 of the first 3 against Philli. Cardinals and astros win the next 4. Brewers still have a half game lead, no?
  15. aAnd? What scwnario am I missing?
  16. I meant one of 4, obviously. 1 of 3 would result in 100% chance of the Brewers still having the top spot in the wildcard race all to themselves. I have a feeling that after the Asros are done with their 3 game series in Florida, they won't even be in the playoff picture.
  17. If the Brewers only take 1 of 3 from Philly, they'll still probably be alone in 1st place in the wildcard race. While I agree that the SOS differences between the Brewers and their contenders make that situation an undesirable one for he Crew, to say it would be "all over" is melodramatic, to say the least. They'd probably still be the favorites in the wildcard race!
  18. Even if Cameron goes back to hitting at his career average, he's worth $10 mil on the open market. That doesn't necessarily mean he's worth $ 10 mil to The Brewers but considering the options, I think so. And JB, do you bring up his strikeout rate because of what you think it suggests about his future offensive prospects or because you think it significantly devalues his offensive performance this year. The former would be understandable while the later is just plain wrong.
  19. The Brewers have been depressingly bad over the last week plus and STIlL have a 74% chance of making the playoffs, according to BP. And that doesn't even consider the fact that CC and Sheets start in 8 of the remaining 17 games. I know it doesn't feel like it but the Brewers are still in the wildcard driver's seat, with an outside shot at the division as well. A win today and even a split of Philly and the Brewers are looking very good.
  20. The Brewers are still the only wildcard hopefull team to have a projection of over 90 wins . That said, with 3 teams in the 87-89 range, there's a decent chance that one of them finish with 90+. Just eyeballing it, I'd say: 90 wins: 50% of wnning the wildcard 91 wins: 65% 92 wins: 85% 93 wins: 99% Isn't there a website that breaks it down like that? Taking into consideration their SOS, BP says that the Brewers finish 9-8, which gives them a 64% chance of the wildcard and 9% chance at the division. What they don't consider, however, is that CC and Sheets start in 8 of the remaining 17 games. That changes the real odds considerably.
  21. There are plenty of Brewer bandwagon fans and there's nothing wrong with that, IMO. I'm not a big college football guy but I will watch the Badgers closely when they are doing well. When they are playing some Division 2 team for their second game of the year, I don't watch any of it. I watched the Bucks when they were good but haven't even checked the standings with regularity since. The more casual a fan you are, the better the team has to be to keep your interest.
  22. How do the Brewers still have a 3 game lead in the wildcard? I'll take it!
  23. Most people HAVE to leave before 11:15 PM on a weeknight. I guess if you are a college student, you'd be OK. Or maybe single, childless and work second shift.
  24. Is it really that hard to hit with RISP? If only the Brewers could pretend that nobody was on base when they came to bat. Cameron crushed that pitch but hit it in one of the only spots where it wouldn't win the game. Yet, if he Cameron hit it a squibber off the end of the bat and got an infield single, we'd call it clutch? The Brewers have gotten a ton of great luck this year, especially in big situations. Lately, they haven't hit well and haven't gotten lucky either. Goes both ways.
  25. Hit it 390ft to the wrong part of the park. What are you going to do.
