  1. There are a few million people who are without power in Houston. They're still waiting for the sun to come up (which it's doing now) and for the storm to let up (about 4 more hours) to be able to assess the damage. I don't see any way that they're playing any games or doing anything in Houston this weekend.
  2. Based on what I'm seeing on TV, if I'm Bud, I'm postponing this series until things are settled in Houston. It's going to be bad. Plain and simple.
  3. A reporter on Fox News said that he was told by the mayor that if the power goes out in Houston, it may be up to 2 weeks before power is back on. Also, they mentioned a gas station in Tennessee is selling gas for over $7 a gallon, Orlando area gas stations are over $5 per gallon, and wholesale gas prices along the gulf coast are over $5 per gallon. It's gonna get expensive for gas, no doubt about it.
  4. There's the million dollar question. There is going to be devastation throughout the greater Houston area, power will be lost, and massive flooding will be all over. Even though the storm will be moving quite fast out of here, there's going to be a lot of things to go through and deal with. I don't see how the team will be able to #1, get out of Houston, and #2, not have to be dealing with the devastation of their places of residence in Houston, and possibly even if there's any damage to Minute Maid. Plus it's quite silly to put the game at MP and do you call that a "home" game for the Astros? I realize that Arlington is out of the question, as there's currently tropical storm warnings for the DFW area right now. But, come on.
  5. 40% of the residents of Galveston didn't evacuate. There is already flooding and the worst hasn't hit yet. In the morning Galveston may not look like it did 24 hours ago. I hope that's not the case, but it doesn't look good. I just hope and pray that people are safe and that the death toll is minimal, if none at all.
  6. Sorry, I just paid $3.43 at Sam's Club, but a Valero not too far away was at $3.59.
  7. Galveston is already having some pretty strong waves overtopping the seawall. The more I'm watching, the more I'm thinking this is going to be bad. As I told my wife earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if by Monday, gas is over $4.00 a gallon, because in the Houston/Beaumont/Port Arthur area there are a lot of refineries. 30% of the US gas is refined there, if I remember the stat I heard before correctly.
  8. Go with a credit union. They are much better to use, as they are basically customer owned. Wells Fargo and BOA are focused on themselves and will fee you for everything.
  9. Good luck, man. I'd get out. My wife's cousin lives in League City and they're making their way to SA today. It's looking like Galveston and Houston are going to get hit hard. I wouldn't ride it out. But that's just me. You're in my prayers.
  10. How did he hurt it? Flexing? Seriously, he's had a great year. This really sucks, and it seems like every good thing is falling away at every turn. Trying to stay.....optimistic.
  11. It's not going to be pretty, at the rate this is going. As much as I'd like the games to be played, I'm all for safety first. Even here in SA, we're supposed to get 50+ MPH winds and 2-4 inches of rain. Harris County (Houston) is going to get hit hard, and keep praying that the seawall holds up in Galveston! It's 17 feet, and the storm surge is predicted to be 20 feet.
  12. It's just a bit of wind and rain.....Ryan Theriot grew up in Louisiana, didn't he? He's scared of hurricanes? Wimp.
  13. Ned really wanted his Coffey, I guess! Great move! Anyone know what his contract status is? It would be awesome if we could have him in our pen next year. Can't be much worse than Mota, Riske, and Gagne.
  14. Gagne is washed up. I don't like the booing before he throws a pitch. As was said before, he's on our team, for better or worse, and the fans need to encourage him and hope for the best. He shouldn't be on the playoff roster, if the Brewers make it to the playoffs.
  15. Actually, if you have been watching after the 2nd quarter, it's been a good game. They're up 31-14. Interception by Carter, next play TD thrown to GG. Apparently they're just slow starters this year, but once they get going, look out!
  16. Goodbye Cap'n Lou.....sad to see you go.
  17. I'm in this boat as well. I'm going to be a dad in about 7 months, so I want to start getting myself in shape. I put on lots of weight in the last 12 years by eating lots and lots of unhealthy food. Now, I'm 6'0, 297 and don't want to be. I've fought this battle on and off, and I'll do well for a while, lose 20-25 pounds in a span of time, and then something comes along and I get off the right eating track and I'm back to where I started again. Now, it seems that this time is going to be different. My motivation I think is not just to look better, or be healthier just for me or my wife, but for my coming child. My biggest challenge is exercise. I can eat healthy (for a time, at least!) but the exercise is what I struggle with. I want to get up in the morning, while it's still cool, and go for a long walk. That's my hope, now that I'm getting back into the routine of life. So, it's really a matter of eating the right foods and exercise. I know this, but knowing and doing at times are 2 separate issues.
  18. In a world... and our movie previews will never, ever be the same. How sad.
  19. Buh-bye! Hopefully you invested your money wisely! Or you're prepared to do something other than baseball to pay the bills!
  20. 26-0. Book it. On a serious note: 2-1 Mets 4-0 Padres 3-0 Cincy 2-2 @Philly 2-1 @Scrubs 3-0 @Cincy 3-0 Pittsburgh 3-0 Scrubs Yeah, I'm saying 22-4. They should whip up on the Pads, Reds and Pirates. The last series vs. the Scrubs will be huge, and it's going to be fun to watch.
  21. This is awesome. Can't wait to see Gamel, Salome and Escobar in the show. It sure will be fun to watch when they get to play. If they get to play!
  22. It looks like this is going to be a big one. Thankfully, they're already starting to evacuate near New Orleans and areas around there, so we don't have a repeat of Katrina. I'm hoping that somehow, for the sake of everyone, this somehow diminishes, but it doesn't look like it will.
  23. I hate the Cubs (Soto drives in DeRosa)
  24. I like that he'll be passing the great Fat Albert soon. That will be wonderful to see. And it definitely is a testament to the unique abilities of Braun.
  25. Go Phillies! Beat the Cubs!! Then the Brewers need to win!
