  1. The Cardinals won't be very good. Remember, they lost Poo and Wainwright is coming off of a serious injury. Last year, a lot was done with smoke, mirrors and Mark McGwire as the hitting instructor. TLR is no longer the manager, so maybe he won't want McGwire to use his usual techniques.
  2. I'm just sharing what I saw scroll across the bottom of the screen. I even went back to make sure I read it right. It seemed odd to me, but then again, the whole thing has been odd from the get-go!
  3. ESPN just scrolled that a "league official" said it's "highly unlikely" that Braun's suspension will be overturned. Apparently via the MJS.
  4. Frank Robinson??? I thought it was GLENN Robinson! ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30508
  5. According to most mothers, this is a good thing. Just saying....
  6. With Big Mac still being the "hitting" coach, Beltran will put up MVP numbers. Gotta love it!
  7. It's like a relationship that's going bad. You do the trial separation and realize you can't live without each other. They paid him to go away, now they pay him to return.
  8. On ESPN's headline, they have him listed as a CF. Is that ESPN and their normal genius again, or is he being looked at as a possible CF?
  9. I keep coming back to 2 teams. Either Seattle or Toronto. There's an outside chance for Baltimore, but I'd lean more toward him going to Toronto. I don't discount the fact that he wants to obliterate everything his dad has done in MLB. He's said it in the past, why wouldn't you want to go to one of the places daddy has played.
  10. Yep....and that means the Cubs won't sign Prince.
  11. Probably because the league has the list and is dealing with it under the table...or behind closed doors....or whatever the case may be.
  12. This is just a weird story. Hurd is from San Antonio, so I've heard him interviewed on local sports talk radio. Guy would have a camp every summer and give back to the community.....as I've learned numerous times, a public persona isn't always who a person really is.
  13. Hey Craig, going off your musical tastes I was wondering what your thoughts were on the new Switchfoot album? Not sure if you are a fan but with some of the bands you listed I thought there might be a chance. It's great! Sorry, that was another one I loved this year. I got to see them live in August before the album came out, and they did a lot of the new ones....good stuff! I've read lots of reviews of Hello Hurricane, and didn't really get to listen to it. I loved The Beautiful Letdown as a beginning to end album, and the last few that I've heard didn't really do it for me. This one is really good!
  14. Problem is with spotify, yes, it's legal and free, but it pays the artists not a whole lot. I'm all for free stuff, but being a church musician, I understand what it's like making your living writing, singing and performing music. They need to pay bills and put food on their table as well. With noisetrade, you give your email and zip code, and yeah, you get on the band/artist's mailing list, but it makes a connection that you don't really get with the major labels....plus, in my opinion, musically, it's more creative and diverse!
  15. Really like what I have heard of The Reckoning and Young Love. Every Needtobreathe album, I say, "There's no way this band could get better", then their next one comes out. So far, top to bottom, it's their best yet. I really like Mat's sound and vibe, but Young Love is the most upbeat and cheery sounding album top to bottom. I've heard a few interviews with him about it. I really like it. Just to put in a plug, over the past year, I've come to this great website called noisetrade.com. All the music is free, you can give "tips" if you want, but it's how I heard Blitzen Trapper, Jonny Corndawg, and a bunch of other bands that I probably wouldn't have heard. Some artists have entire albums up, some just a few songs to give you a taste. It's awesome. I strongly recommend it!
  16. The ones I liked Civil Wars-- Barton Hollow Gungor-- Ghosts on the Earth Needtobreathe--The Reckoning Mat Kearney-- Young Love I forgot one more, because I haven't bought it yet....having a baby and all costs $$$ John Mark McMillan's Economy
  17. I think going from Lowrie to Punto is a downgrade. But it will be fun to watch.
  18. Rogers too, I believe.
  19. This is funny Waaa, waaa So, let me get this straight. They initially offer a 5 year, $130 million dollar deal, then bump it up to 10 years $210 million and you're mad just because of their initial offer? That's called negotiating, folks. This is how businesses are run.
  20. And once again, a proposed Chris Paul trade to a LA based team falls through.....wow. The fallout from this should be interesting!
  21. I don't know. Would it hurt to listen to trade offers. Need to get a ML ready starting pitcher, a SS at AAA and 2 other blue chip prospects in return. I'd consider it. But I'm not a MLB GM.
  22. Yeah, if it's been known for a month, wouldn't immediately have been the better time? I'm guessing the writers would have had some kind of emergency meeting to reconsider and change their MVP votes.
