  1. Braddock has performed fantastic all season. While TheCrew07 is rightly concerned about his injury history - he was mostly healthy this season. He did miss some time, but by all accounts, it was just the Brewers being overly cautious. (He didn't have a surgery or anything and appears none the worse for the wear) I believe it was just slight inflammation? I'd love to see Braddock pitching out of the pen in Milwaukee next year in 2 inning increments. He really, really needs to log some innings on his arm before he can become a starter. I'd hate to see his talent wasted in the pen. I am sure Peterson will have a BIG say in how to handle a young pitcher like Braddock.
  2. A Cubs source quickly responded to the report by saying the rumor has "no legs at all," adding the team has not discussed the possibility of bringing Wells to the North Side. Chicago Tribune
  3. Those are definitely disappointing slugging numbers for Green - but coming off a wrist surgery, a significant drop seems pretty reasonable.
  4. 2010 Projections Hardy projected with a .742 OPS Escobar projected with a .703 OPS (42 stolen bases) Gamel projected with a .817 OPS Salome projected with a .787 OPS Gerut projected with a .747 OPS Cameron projected with a .756 Nothing particularly surprising with the pitcher - Bush with a 4.29 ERA. That sounds pretty close to me, but I know some people were really down on him. Suppan with an ERA over 5.00. And, because it seems relevant - Washburn with a 4.09 ERA.
  5. "some guy named Chuck" is a more credible source...
  6. That would have been a really well spent $1M for the Brewers. (Unless, of course, Cameron comes back)
  7. That would have been a really well spent $1M for the Brewers. (Unless, of course, Cameron comes back)
  8. Maybe Haudricourt is withholding some of that information for Baseball America? For the most part, his target audience for the Journal Sentinel doesn't care about the AFL. He is only writing for his audience. I'm a pretty big Haudricourt supporter. If you ever have a question - you can just email him, he always responds. I've always taken his "speculation" to really mean "I hear from people within the Brewer's organization - but they don't want to go on the record". Why would anyone in the Brewers actually go on record and admit that Salome has been passed by Lucroy? It would only be an insult to Salome and lower his trade value.
  9. You were wrong. Jay Fiedler played some professional beach volleyball after he retired from the NFL.
  10. Arnett could very well be MLB ready by 2011. He wasn't a "project" or anything like a high school player - he isn't too far away. I completely agree with your assessment. I've had 2011 circled on my calendar since the end of the 2008 season. My only fear is that we start slowly and trade Prince Fielder during or after the 2010 season.
  11. Is Riske ever going to pitch for the Brewers? His injury was pretty serious. I'd assume they have insurance on his contract - perhaps his $4.5M has been covered?
  12. Of course, technically - every player is tradable. But, I doubt Braun would be moved for any package. The Brewers have him at a great rate. He is destined to be "the face of the franchise" when Prince leaves. Unless of course, Melvin really didn't like his pitching comments this summer. Heyward and Hanson would definitely get it done, in my opinion. But both teams fan's might revolt.
  13. Any outfield that has Adam Dunn will always be the worst outfield in baseball. Braun isn't great - but he would be adequate in RF. Hart actually has better defensive numbers as a CF than as a RF. But, regardless, you are correct - it would be a bad outfield defensively.
  14. Either $9,500,000 or $400,000 - it all depends on who you ask. Unless he hits .400 in Spring Training (assuming they don't trade him), Gamel isn't going to start at 3B. Gamel will probably start at AAA as insurance in case McGehee can't repeat last years performance. If both of them are playing great - one of them would be moved by the All-Star break.
  15. I didn't follow the Brewers in the 90's. (Good decade to take off) I've never heard of Jeff Juden before this interview. Not sure why I even read it - but that was really an enjoyable read. Thanks Todd.
  16. Manny Parra's personal coach? I can't believe how down everyone is on Dave Bush. He had two season with a WHIP of 1.14. When healthy, I think he will be a serviceable #3 and a great #4 starter. His "big innings"might be frustrating - but he also has the potential to throw a no-hitter when on. X apparently thinks Peterson is a God. I don't share his excitement, but I think his name recognition might convince a few "projects" to sign with the Brewers. That alone is very helpful.
  17. So Ankiel is going to sit out the entire season? If he looks for a $10M deal, he will be lucky to get leftovers in March with around $2M. That said, it would be fun to watch Ankiel gun down runners from CF. But he would be a definite downgrade from Cameron.
  18. I love Bedard. But even when healthy - he doesn't go deep into games.
  19. That trade would make more sense for the Seattle Mariners and Felix Hernadez. Absolutely BS rumor. Have we even had any inclination from Kansas City that they would consider trading Greinke?
  20. Agreed. Other than the fact that Hernan can play CF in a pinch - I'd rather have Heether. Heether played 3B, 2B, SS and LF last year. (And even pitched 1 inning!) Heether is just as cheap and provides a little pop off the bench.
  21. On the radio the other day, Haudricourt mentioned that Capuano would be open to another season with the Brewers - but that he would explore his options. Haudricourt doubted that he would be a starting pitcher anymore. So I can't imagine the Brewers offering him much more than the minimum for a potential relief pitcher.
  22. Cameron might be the most polarizing Brewer player I can remember in recent years. Some love him. Some hate him. There seems to be very little in between - and even fewer who can be converted from one category to the other. Dan Needles on the D-List (AM 540) really disliked Cameron's production. He is so animated and passionate that it really bothers me, because I am strictly in the "love" category. That said, Kapler would be a nice addition. He can play the RH side of the CF platoon and be a great bat off the bench. I'd like our odds with Counsell or Kapler as our pinch hitters.
  23. I'd really like to see this Peterson hiring wrapped up soon. If he plans to implement an entire overhaul to our pitching philosophy from A to MLB, he needs to get to work ASAP. In addition, the sooner he is hired, the quicker we can get to work targeting pitchers to add to the roster. I wonder if one of the sticking points might be how much authority Peterson will actually have over the entire system.
  24. This is also a good reason why compensation for losing free agents doesn't work as planned. Boston hopes to add a few good players on the rebound with one year deals. (Bedard or Sheets) They hope they play well, reestablish their value so Boston can offer them arbitration and Boston just bought two high drafts picks. The problem, of course, is that, as a pitcher, you are now pitching the the AL East. If you want to increase your value, you would be an idiot not to sign with an NL team. Unfortunately, the Brewers can't afford to gamble on several players.
  25. D'oh! Thanks Toby, I must have missed the box scores that day.
