By looking at the numbers, it doesn't appear we should win this one. Which leads me to believe Seth will pitch a 3-hitter in 7 innings and the Brewers will win 8-2. This team never seems to do what the numbers say it should. In a perfect world, Mota would be called in to pitch the 8th, but would get booed off the field by fans before he can even be announced. Then Gagne can pitch the 8th and 9th.

I wouldn't call Randy Johnson a good pitcher this year. He and Griffey just need to retire, because it's getting sad watching them out there. It was pretty bad watching Griffey strike out swinging on David Riske's electric 88 mph fastball last night.

 

Volquez strikes out a lot of guys, but he'll also walk a lot of guys if you let him. It'd be nice to see the Brewers be patient early, getting the first couple guys on and putting up some runs in the first inning.

Here's hoping that Dave Bush's good outing on Thursday motivates Big Seth to step up as well.

 

I have to admit to being more skeptical about the Brewers' ability to get to Volquez. The "better" pitchers they have gotten to this year have generally been guys they've faced before. I don't recall their facing Volquez earlier in the season.

 

Still, there's a reason they play the games, and I'd be happy to have my skepticism refuted tonight.

True, but Braun and Weeks aren't hitting 40 points lower than they did last year and 50 points lower than their career averages. Those were bad at-bats, too, but Griffey's been hard to watch all year.

As long as the Cubs continue to have that horseshoe planted firmly in their you know whats, it's time to worry. The Crew needs to keep their lead within 5 or less the rest of the way or they are toast for the division(which is what I really want, but I'll take the Wild card).
