8/24/08 Pirates (Maholm) at Brewers (Sabathia): 1:05 PM CDT

[trwi7]

Uh oh, Mota warming up.

[trwi7]

So yeah, Braun has looked worse than Weeks and Hall (this year) at the plate today.

[Bernman23]

Tied in the 9th and Yost trots out two hitters who have no chance of hitting a home run and a choker. Sometimes he's more concerned with showing favoritism towards his gritty battlers than trying to win. What are we saving Mike Rivera for, in case this goes to 25 innings and he gets hurt?

I don't ever think it's a good idea to put your second catcher in unless it's an emergency.

Why, because that's convention? You play whoever gives you a better shot to win in sudden death. Even if the game continues beyond that point the chances Rivera gets injured are minimal. He's caught 18 games without getting injured to my knowledge. And he wouldn't even have to catch near a complete game, just a few innings. In the minuscule chance he gets injured go with a replacement catcher.

[Ranier]

Someday Braun will be a little more plate disciplined....watch out then. Today he has looked lost.

[derflotr]

BA says that Braun going out of the strike zone is uncharacteristic.

Grabow could've thrown to 1st base and Ryan would've swung.

[Ranier]

Why, because that's convention? You play whoever gives you a better shot to win in sudden death...

Basically because it's convention yeah. There's a reason that is how it's done.

[ILuvDaBush]

The Battle of Villy-Rivas, won by Chucky.

[wibadgers23]

Speaking of somebody who has looked lost, how about Andy LaRoche? Yikes.

[bucks2281]

I can't stand Nyjer Morgan.

[Bernman23]

The Pirates lead the league in players with out of style, prison quality, barbed wire, arm tattoos.

[trwi7]

We have to be the worst team at getting guys out on grounders to 1st in the league.

[ILuvDaBush]

And the Jack Wilson Monster again shows its face.

[wibadgers23]

With his speed, all Morgan has to do is put the ball in play and he has a good chance of getting on base.

[Vgmastr]

I don't know what Bill was complaining about, Villy took off towards first the second the ball left the bat. That was all on Prince, he got the ball and couldn't decide whether to shovel it over to Villy or take it himself. With Morgan's speed, that split second cost him.

[endaround]

No that was all on Villy, Prince got the ball got turned to throw and Villy was jogging in from the mound.

[wibadgers23]

We have the plate discipline of a little league team.

[trwi7]

Cameron better hit a homer here or we're in trouble. Hall, Kendall, Nix, Weeks.

[trwi7]

Cam 5-5. Steal and hope for a bloop.

[dlk9s]

John Kruk picked Cameron in BBTN's little Sunday fantasy baseball game they play.

[ELCABALLO45]

That was all on Villy by the way.

And have a day Mike Cameron

[trwi7]

Why was Brian so excited about a flyball 15 feet from the warning track?

[dlk9s]

Why was Brian so excited about a flyball 15 feet from the warning track?

Maybe he's a Cubs fan.

[trwi7]

Why the hell did we pitch out on 1-0? That's just stupid, and now he walks him.

[Dustin Block]

Well, this is fun!

[trwi7]

Throw some damn strikes Carlos. Horrible. This is going to be a horrible loss. Great, now Ned is going to bring in Mota.
