Mark Prior

With Mark Prior seemingly very unhappy with his present situation (being optioned to AAA), and perhaps even washed up, would anyone consider trading for him and giving Maddux a crack at helping him regain his greatness? Pretty sure the Cubs wouldn't go for it, but...

I'm pretty sure there is nothing Maddux could do for him at this point that anyone else hasn't tried. Prior just seems to have a dead arm.

Unless they want to pay the whole contract and take a mediocre type prospect back it doesn't make sense. Chicago would never do that within the NL better yet the division. I think he is done. His arm is basically chopped liver.

The only way I think Prior can ever be a good pitcher again is if he suddenly has absolutely phenomenal control and turns into the next like Greg Maddux...

No, I don't think that's going to happen.

His arm is dead, he can't throw 95-100 any more, nor will he probably ever be able to again. Not worth it.

I am not the most knowledgable about the Brewers' farm system, but it seems like they have enough quality prospects coming up through the organization where they shouldn't have to take a gamble on an iffy reclamation project like Prior.

Let the Cubs keep him...it hurts them more than it would help us having him on their roster.

If we wouldn't have traded lil' Ben, I'd have suggested that swap. The way it is, perhaps we could get the Wood/Prior package for Nick Neugebauer/Chris Saenz???

Mark Prior's is probably one of the saddest stories I have witnessed in my time as a baseball fan. He's one of my all-time favorites for sure. Just a phenomenal talent, and I hope he still turns into Tom Seaver like he was on track to, and I don't care if he's a Cub or not.

One of my favorite Brewers games ever was against the Cubs at Wrigley, which Prior started (6/26/03). Prior pitched 8 innings, had 16 K's, 0 walks, and gave up a 2-run bomb to Ginter. He left with a lead, which Borowski promptly gave up on a Jenkins HR, and the Brewers won.

You forgot the blue font...I know Neugebauer is no longer with the organization, and I'm assuming Saenz isn't either.

Prior is a prime example of why you can understand draft picks holding out for every penny they can get.Once he can't get hitters out anymore,he'll be discarded like the days trash.

Right on, danzig. That's probably why I'll never "hate" Scott Boras or J.D. Drew, or whomever holds out for more cash. Draft picks get screwed all the time.

I'd take Prior. I think he'll turn it around and be the pitcher e was supposed to be sans the handful of years he already missed because of injury.
