Congrats. Here's a little advice

1. get drunk

2. make some bad decisions.

3. repeat for the rest of your life.

It's all downhill from here

If you plan on drinking, please take a little time to learn the drill before going hog wild. By that, I mean take some time to learn your limits and tolerance before going out and drinking too much and ending up like a puddle on the floor. Nobody likes the amateur who ruins the night by puking and getting kicked out of the bar by 11:00.

Doesn't matter what you know when every other person at the bar feels the need to buy you a shot.

Fan is short for fanatic.

Are there actually people that don't know the drill by the time they turn 21 these days?

Plenty have been drinking for a while, but it's rare that you meet one who isn't a near-abstainer that knows how to handle themself. Might partially be a product of them having to drink in hiding with other kids who also don't understand when to quit or how much will make you vomit. Drinking was always a pretty out-in-the-open kind of thing in my family, so I had lots of examples of how to party for extended periods without getting stupid.

Just in time for "amateur night"** with the rest of the lightweights.....

Happy Birthday! Fill 'er up and best wishes!

(I love seeing the rookies out and about....good times. Shine my shoes while you're down there on the floor....)

Happy birthday. Have a blast, and you shouldn't be reading this until 5:00 pm tomorrow.

Happy Birthday from Me!

Hope it all goes well. Drinking is fun when you're young but in another 10 years it'll be highly overrated.

So enjoy it while you can!

Ok I didnt drink (not even a sip), instead I went to the Casino. Always wanted to actually play at one after being in Vegas 5 years ago. Very fun but also became aware of what can happen if you dont manage your $.

Cabs in most of WI are so cheap that you look like an even bigger idiot for driving drunk. I went back to EC for a wedding in July and we got a ride from a couple miles outside the SW edge of town to the SE edge of town for $12. Especially if you're splitting fare with friends, without even mentioning other consequences (not harming someone, crashing your car, etc) you can ride home many many times for the economic cost of a DUI.

A tip for you young drinkers: as much as it will kill you to not stay until close, you always want to leave 20-30 minutes before the bar closes so you can get a cab. Try getting one in a busy area around 2:30 on a Saturday, ain't happening. At 2:00, though, you waltz right up and cruise home.

I always put a phone number or two for cab companies in the area into my cell phone whenever I intend to go out in a town. In a lot of cities the bar league will pay for your cab home if you ask the bar to call a cab for you.

I blame Wang.

Just don't drive. Drink till you forget science... just don't drive home.

Great advice. The tips on cabs are great, too. Glad you had fun, Adam!
