Best days of your life. Also the most important. Too many guys screw around their freshman year and flunk out of college. Don't be that guy,

Congrats adamb100 but don't be nervous. Enjoy this time of your life and celebrate. Find yourself a copy of These Important Years by Husker Du.

Cherish it and savor it. Things will never be the same afterward. You're going to lose touch with people you have been close with for years, in the blink of an eye. It's very odd, even when you vow to "keep in touch, man", but you know in your mind that you won't. It's the end of an era, you'll suddenly be a grown-up.

But it's a good thing, enjoy whatever happens next, and congrats.

Amuse yourself by trying to count the graduation speakers' cliches. Like "This is not an ending, but really a beginning."

You'll lose count, I guarantee it. Congratulations!

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

What Russ Luz said...it's really easy to get caught up in all the fun and new freedom during this point of your life.

That said, congrats and have a great time--just keep your head.

I'm a believer that graduation day isn't nearly as important as the days (and nights) of hard work that lead up to it. That extra night you spent studying for the tough exam, or writing that research paper, those are what really will have put that piece of parchment in your hand tomorrow.

Your graduation is a recognition of all those lesser days along the way. Enjoy it, by all means, but celebrate the four years....not the one day.

...and that's coming from someone who spoke at his HS graduation.

(Cliche-free, I might add! ...or at least I hope it was.)

I love you man! Just be focused. You will have plenty time to party and meet the ladies. There is nothing wrong with that. Party but do good. In college, it's so possible. Try to avoid any classes before 10 AM. In my experience at that school it was hard. Had a 730am class..don''t do that.

As has been said, the biggest thing you need to focus on now is simply not screwing up. Freshman year of college is pretty easy academically, but lots of people get caught up in the fun and excitement of being independent and flunk out - now they're assistant shift managers at mall stores. I lived with my parents freshman year and actually had my best year (3.89 GPA, I believe), and my grades weren't solid because I was way smarter than my peers, but I was way more focused and way less likely to be up until 4:00 am wasted on school nights.

Just remember, as soon as you get a job you are going to have one for the rest of your life. So put it off as long as possible!

Have fun with your young 20's. I did and still appreciate it now. don't feel rushed into anything. Enjoy life for what it is and what you want ti to be.

Experiment and be free.

Good luck!

Nice work, now the fun begins. I really really really recommend taking some time to travel abroad in the next few years whether through school or on your own. Now's the time.

when I think back, I wish I gave my entire graduating class the finger, not that i'm suggesting you do that.

freedom is so incredible when you first get it--just keep setting your alarm.

Yeah you're not the first one to think about giving the finger. I always joked that when I graduate I would give everyone the one finger salute. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Congrats. Take some time to enjoy. The summer after high school really is one of those great times in your life. All the fun with relativly few of the responsibilities. As others have said hit the ground running in college. Spending the first couple months studying will end up in the rest of your college days being more enjoyable. BTW as a person your age it is easy to just go with the flow and do what people tell you. Take some time to think for yourself and be your own person. You will be better for it.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Congrats http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I remember my graduation ceremony and it was horribly long we had 8 or 9 valedictorians I can't remember. The speech they gave was horribly unfunny and they took turns reading parts of it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

I was the last one in my class and I was thinking about doing something funny or amusing but thought against it knowing the world of pain I would be in from my dad when I got home http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif
