Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)

Keith Law is surmising that someone is going to overpay for Lucroy. For our sake, let's hope he's right for the first time ever.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

The #Tigers are "not involved'' on Jonathan Lucroy, says a source. So that's another team to scratch off the list.

That would appear to put the Indians, Red Sox, and Rangers at the fore, possibly in that order.

Plus the mystery mystery team(s) and Mets on the periphery.

I'm really hoping Luc isn't in the lineup until he's traded. Don't need to take that risk right now...

Random tangent. I think I finally figured out why they called up Jake Elmore - if Lucroy is traded and they can't get Pina to Milwaukee in time for a game the same day, Elmore has pro catching experience (albeit extremely limited). In case Maldonado were to be hurt and removed from the game, at least they'd have someone who could play back there.

Mets have an offer on the table that we have 'yet to reject ', supposedly. Unless Rosario and Smith are both on the table I can't see us seriously entertaining offers from the Mets.

I was also thinking about that. If Lucroy was traded mid game who the emergency catcher would be. I was hoping it would be someone that would be hilarious to watch back there like Chris Carter (huge) or Scooter (not huge)

That's an interesting point. Has the 2nd wild card indirectly caused more parity in the league?

Absolutely. If anything, it's drastically effected the trade deadline. More teams believe they have a shot and, as shown by the KC Royals two years ago, any team can get hot once they get in.

With this market, we need to have everyone available and we need to listen intently. If Andrew Cashner and Colin Rea are going for Josh Naylor and Luis Castillo, I don't even wanna begin to think about what Jimmy Nelson would go for.

The second WC is certainly a factor. I also think bubbles burst, and when they do, the "bubble commodity" falls far below its true value before coming back up (think housing after the 2007-08 crash). Markets just always work that way, and MLB trading is a market.

For a while prospects were severely over-valued. Remember the "Mike Trout wouldn't bring back Profar" rhetoric a couple of years ago? The bubble burst, and many GMs are now under-valuing prospects. It will correct over time, and prospects will regain their luster, but the timing couldn't be better for the Brewers to be in rebuild mode.

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."

~Bill Walsh

If you guys believe Lucroy alone can bring a return of Devers and Kopech (two of the four "untouchable" prospects that the Red Sox have) I cannot wait to see what we actually bring in. If you guys are right in that prospects are being THAT severely undervalued, is it really out of the question that we see a top 10 prospect + coming to us?

Or Matz. Honestly at this point, if its the Mets I only want the "possibly damaged goods" Matz and a prospect.

Why do i get the feeling that many people are going to be very disappointed when Lucroy is moved?

People seem to be setting expectations higher and higher every day.

People need to relax. Stearns will get the best deal he can.

Other teams are getting incredible deals for trade chips no where near as valuable as Luc. Why wouldn't Stearns get the best return of all the July trades?

Very dissapointed, not sure they know how it works..

It's all about the demand side of it too..

Gotta be realistic

I do have a feeling we as fans think we are going to get Bonestorm but in reality end up with Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge.

“Welcome to Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge. I am Carvallo. Now, choose a club. (Beep) You have chosen a three wood. May I suggest a putter? (Beep) Three wood. Now enter the force of your swing. I suggest feather touch. (Beep, beep, beep) You have entered "power drive". Now, push seven eight seven to swing." (Beep beep beep)

"Ball is in...parking lot. Would you like to play again? (Beep) You have selected, "No.”

I'm optimistic, but I'm trying to stay guarded. The market looks great, but it's been almost all pitchers so far. A pitcher and position player market can be apples and oranges.

He has already made it clear that he wouldn't get in the way to go to a contender. That doesnt mean, as has been noted that he wouldnt want something in return(extension), but I dont really see it as a hang up.

Per Jerry Crasnick, Lucroy can block trade to 8 teams

Angels, Twins, Athletics, Padres, Mariners, Nationals, Tigers, and INDIANS. Gulp!

He said he wants to go a contender, which the Indians are, but I'm not sure why he would. I suppose it's possible that he might negotiate with it and try to have his 2017 option voided, which would probably be a deal breaker.

I honestly see the no trade clause as a total none issue, NONE. I'd be shocked if Mr.Iwannaplayforacontender even tried to get a dollar.

Saw a rumor Boston is HEAVILY in on Lucroy from MLB Network or Radio.

I'm hearing Mets have the best offer. I believe it's TDA and Rosario but there are also trying to get Jeffress or Smith included.

If that is the best offer, I would be disappointed.
