I'm rarely recent on my movie watching so bear with me...

Saw "Knives Out" and really enjoyed it.  Daniel Craig's Kentucky drawl was bad (especially early in the film), but the plot and the twists were excellent.  I figured out the how, but not the who of the movie. I had both of Kenneth Branagh's Hercule Poirot movies figured out before the end (Murder on the Orient Express and  Death on the Nile - still good movies), but this one had me guessing to the end.

On the opposite side, I saw Wonder Woman 1984.... ugh.  How bad can a super hero movie be??? I can't think of a single redeeming aspect of this film.  It just kept getting worse and worse.  Pedro, this is not the way!

Now that you've seen Knives Out you can watch the next one, "Glass Onion". I should take my own advice, I've been meaning to watch it for weeks now lol.

If anyone is looking for a horror flick, Barbarian is pretty fun. It has a unique plot structure with some interesting twists.

I'm sure I'll get to in in the next 3-4 years... 😂  I just watched the entire Godzilla King of Monsters so I can watch Godzilla vs Kong. (Which I'll say was "ok" ).

We trudged through the snow to see M3GAN on Saturday. It was the only thing playing near us. It was OK. I don't understand the glowing reviews.

Enjoy!  I thought KO was better, but that may have been that I figured out what was going on in GO.

Waited for Wakanda Forever to come out on Disney+.  Disappointed, but not surprised.  There were times where I thought I was watching a DC movie.  I'm glad I saw it, though, so I can stay up on all things Marvel.

I've seen 8 of the 10 Best Picture nominees for the Oscar's. I have ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT  and  WOMEN TALKING to go.

I won't say it was the right 10, but it was a fairly representative 10. The two biggest hits of the year, which hasn't happened since 1970, a surprise hit, several critics favorites, and a couple of odd choices at the end that may be worth discovering.

TRIANGLE OF SADNESS didn't really work for me, but I don't begrudge the rest for getting nominations.

This is probably the best film I have seen in years.  Now if only someone would make a more recent Korean War film that is worth watching.

I'm up to 6 of the 10 (missing Triangle, All Quiet, Tar, and Women Talking).  All Quiet on the Western Front is on Netflix, so I know that I'll see that one before the ceremony; might have to break down and rent the others.

I have a hard time not rooting for Everything Everywhere All at Once....which is such a non-Oscar-type film, I simultaneously have a hard time picturing it actually winning.

The only reason that I haven't seen ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT yet is because the 1930 version is such a devastating masterpiece. It's hard to go anywhere but down.

Saw Creed III yesterday and really enjoyed it.  I'm a sucker for the Rocky franchise.

(I do admit though, seeing the beatings these guys take in the movies, and knowing full well that in real life, there would be death or total and complete brain damage, I find some of the unrealistic beatings to be a bit much.  Was the same throughout all the Rocky and Creed movies though, so this isn't anything new)

CHAMPIONS was a good flick.

Nothing new and groundbreaking, but a really decent feel good flick!

We watched a little gem on Amazon last night called The Outfit. If you like gangster movies and/or movies with a lot of plot twists then this one is for you. There were two things that happened that were kind of ridiculous but i can't reveal them without giving anything away but other than that I really enjoyed it. Plus Mark Rylance is awesome in everything he does.

Watched ALIVE yesterday.  That is a movie that will make you think about a lot of things.  If you haven't watched it for some unknown reason, do it!

Re-watched both Anchorman movies last weekend.  Though both are entertaining and have their moments, I feel like they have been elevated above where they should be on the "great" movie scale...

Still worth the watch.

Tried to sit through Dudley Moore's ARTHUR today.  Made it through about 20 minutes, and that was enough.  Not sure why that one ever made my collection to begin with, but it's a goner now.

All the Right Moves - Classic 80's movie!  I still enjoy this one!  A very young Tom Cruise and a very young Lea Thompson just being an 80's babe...

Animal House - Classic!  Not one of my top movies of all time, but still worth the watch if there are any young people here that haven't seen it yet...  So many classic lines that you still hear today.

Any Given Sunday - A disturbing take on the NFL without mentioning the NFL.  I remember when this movie came out.  It ruined a lot of things about the game for me...

Are you only watching movies that start with "A" these days, Turbo? :)

My daughter turned 4 on Tuesday - I am going to try and take her and my 2.5 year old to the local movie spot for Mario tomorrow.  Daughter told me she is frightened because it will get dark.  Hopefully it goes well!

I have a massive dvd collection that I am trying to thin down.

I started watching them alphabetically a while back, and am only keeping the ones that I view as "good enough to keep."  Basically meaning, will I ever want to invest the time to see it again.

So, in answering your question, yes, I am only watching movies that start with "A" until I get to the "B" movies.

How did it go? I have a 4 and 2.5 year old and can't imagine them making it more than 45 minutes at a theater.

It went realllllllllly well!  Show started at 5:10(the 3pm show was sold out), so we fed them an early dinner and got to the theater around 4:50.  We snuck in 2 ring pops just in case, but we were prepared to leave early if needed.  Grabbed some popcorn, puppy chow, and some reeses pieces.  Kids had their water and snacks.  Daughter sat for the first 45 minutes in her own chair eating snacks and snuggling with her blanket.  Then she needed the rest room.  Sat another 15 minutes and needed the restroom again.  At 6:18 she said she was done and wanted to go, but my 2.5 year old was still super engaged, so we finished it out and were out of there at 6:35!  I was impressed with both kids, but we were prepared to leave early if needed.  Both said they really enjoyed it.  My daughter giggled when I did so that was cute.  She asked me during one of her bathroom breaks if it was okay to laugh out loud since I told her we need to be quiet in the theater.  All in all a 9 out of 10 experience.

Watched a few more movies from the dvd collection the past couple of weeks.  Still weeding them out.  Nothing added to the DUMP pile.

American Graffiti - Always liked this movie and don't think a movie Like Dazed and Confused (One of my top 3 favs of all time) would have been made without it!

More American Graffiti - A decent follow up to the original.  Not much more to add.

American History X - Disturbing...  On the fence with keeping or dumping this one.

Appaloosa - I'm a sucker for the modern Western.  Good story line, just a good movie if you like westerns.

Armageddon - I'll be honest, haven't seen this movie in over a decade.  I thought it would be a goner before watching it, but had to give it one more chance.  LOVED it!  Liv Tyler annoys me, always has, but I got over it.  Does it have a cheesy factor, yup, but loved it anyway!
