The Milwaukee Film Festival started yesterday and goes until May 8th.

The Shrouds is on my list, but not until next weekend.

We caught The Marching Band last night. It was fantastic. Funny, moving....a throwback of sorts in that the structure leads to some predictability but I kind of miss that in movies.

The Surfer was great!

Weird at times, but I really enjoyed it.  The only part that I didn't like was the trippy 60's drug part..

Fight or Flight

I enjoyed the crap out of this movie today!  Is it going to win awards?  Nope.

But it was a great way to spend 2 hours and kicked some butt along the way!

Black Bag was pretty good. It's streaming on Peacock. A run-time of 94 minutes was appreciated for a spy movie. It's more of a whodunnit than an action movie, which seems to be a complaint among those who didn't like it.  Soderburgh isn't everyone's cup of tea but I like his stuff a lot.

Is this a Peacock exclusive movie?  I love whodunnit movies so I'd check it out... but I don't have Peacock (and I don't chase subscriptions for a movie sake...

It's free w a Peacock subscription. You might be able to rent it on other platforms. It had a short run in the theaters.

Is this similar to Kinives Out or Murder on the Orient Express type movies?

I am using the term "whodunnit" kind of loosely. But there is a scene towards the end of the movie that is reminiscent of either of those films, where all the "suspects" end up in a room and one by one, the evidence that exonerates each of them is presented until they get to the guilty party.

Friendship

Really fun little flick.  I guess you'd call it a black comedy...  Worth seeing imo.

I'd say Black Bag is kind of a mix of Tinker, Tailor,Soldier, Spy and The Thin Man with a bit of Who,s Afraid of Virginia Woolf in the mix. I thought it was a ton of fun.

Enjoying the new Led Zeppelin doc on Netflix. It doesn't dive super deep into their personal lives (ahem! Jimmy Page) but I guess that was the tradeoff to get all three living members to do interviews. Some really interesting footage, anecdotes, and "stuff". Jimmy Page showed his calendar from his days as a session musician and listed off all the bands he worked with - Rolling Stones, The Who, etc. etc. Robert Plant had the original lyrics to Ramble On scribbled on a piece of paper.

Can’t tell you how pumped I am about this.

totally expecting a flop, but hoping for something quotable and funnier the more you watch it.

Mel Brooks doesn't make flops, and Rick Moranis is coming out of retirement for this one. The new Naked Gun coming out in a couple months, however, is the one I have no hope for since the Zuckers were not involved.

So, Mel Brooks will be 100 years old when this comes out.  He is 98 now.

100...

years...

old.

He is not allowed to die.  Yeah... that's the ticket.

Wow.  He looks pretty good for 98.  Excited to see if they can top the original.

I just hope he makes it long enough to finish the film. Otherwise they'll have to AI his parts.

Ironically, it would be kinda fitting if they did AI him even if he was still alive with star wars doing it with tarkin and Leia.

The Naked Gun trailer is great. And it's directed by one of the Lonely Island guys so I am hopeful.

I saw it too and I am not impressed. It's a shame the Zuckers weren't involved because Seth MacFarlane made a real turd.

The Life of Chuck

Different kind of movie, but I enjoyed it. Not your typical Stephen King type of deal for sure...

On the positive side, he doesn't actually need makeup to reprise his role as Yogurt! 😂

How important is it to see 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later before seeing 28 Years later?

Anyone with insight?
