Will be interesting to see if Singer falls to the A’s at #9. It would be the second time in three years they sat back and had a highly touted Florida pitcher fall to them.

That was the draft where we picked Corey Ray a pick before AJ Puk.

 

I hated that pick then, and i still hate it just as much.

Jared Kelenic was the first high schooler off the board. That is pretty freaking cool for a kid from Wisconsin.

Corey Ray is finally putting things together and looks like a pretty solid prospect, it's not like it was Eric Arnett or something (or Medeiros/Gatewood )

Kelenic and Weathers in back-to-back picks, inside the Top 10....because this draft hates me.

Puk had TJ surgery anyway...in fact a few of the highly touted pitchers from that draft have had major injuries. There's real risk to go with the potential reward of picking a pitcher that high, and that should be remembered on draft day.

Interesting stat by Peter Gammons. In the last All Star game, 75% were first rounders or international players. Two areas that hopefully the Brewers are turning around.

A bit off-topic, but recently almost all of the top-10 prospects have been international players. I wonder how many of these players were signed during years when that team egregiously exceeded the international signing bonus rules/"suggestions" (before the current rules were in place)?

Kind of like a band-aid, it was probably better to just rip it off quickly. Those guys falling into the mid-teens would have just gotten my hopes up irrationally high.

He seems like a really bright guy. I usually like what the Braves do in the draft. They aren’t afraid to go for pitching.
