Please use this thread to discuss other games with playoff implications:

 

St. Louis @ Detroit 12:10PM

Chicago @ Washington 12:35PM

LA Dodgers @Colorado 2:10PM

Atlanta @ Arizona 3:10PM

I have a bad feeling that this game will be postponed, only to be made up if it would affect standings. It would be best for them to play it today, but I also wouldn't mind if they had to utilize one of their two remaining off days to travel to DC for the game. They should definitely have to play it. It's all cumulative. If it came down to them actually having to play it October 1st, that delays a potential 1 game playoff for the division until October 2nd and the wildcard until October 3rd. MLB shouldn't take that risk.

I think it’ll be Thursday. MLB needs to keep 10/1 open for a potential division tiebreaker and the 10/2 NL Wild Card game seems pretty firm. That’s ESPN’s only playoff game, so I can’t see them being OK with it being moved to the afternoon the next day.

If the Cubs do get rained out .. do we think they just push their rotation all back a day and we would get Montgomery tomorrow or will they skip him and keep the rest on regular rest?

 

We sure are facing a lot of lefties as of late.

Cubs nats delayed to start again...at this point they've almost committed to getting the game in today, which bodes well for the brewers tomorrow.

 

Maddon will complain about some aspect of this.

Is there a latest they will let the game start? Like if they think it will clear up at say 8pm would they wait or claim it's too late?

I'm the furthest thing from a cub fan, but it's bs they waited that long to call the game before rescheduling. Should have been called this morning, actually.

 

Also, I hope scherzer makes that thursday start on normal rest!

They had to try. I'm sure playing this game late was a better option than having to fly to Washington and back in the middle of a home stand is not ideal.

Can't be concerned about Philly at this point. If they pass us, we'll have done so poorly that other teams will have passed us, too.

Decent chance that Cubs game gets canceled or moved to a different ballpark due to the incoming hurricane. Although right now it looks more like the Carolinas problem.
