Wow, Maddon left Strop in to bat with the bases loaded and 1 out in a 1 run game. Must not trust anyone else left in his pen. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

It's the perfect move. They're already winning, so if it doesn't work, he can just lament the schedule (and if Strop pitches well in the 10th, Maddon still comes out smelling like roses). If it works, he's a genius!

Strop seems to be injured. Hammy?

I wonder how many Cub fans just following on Gameday do not know this and are just going nuts right now about Strop hitting with the bases loaded and then being pulled.

Sure was generous of the Nats to push Scherzer's start back. *wink* *wink*

Gave them Murphy for nothing. Heck, may as well have rented out Harper to them for a couple of crappy Cubs prospects.

Sounds like Strop may have blown a hammy running to first in the 10th.

After the issues the Brewers have had with pitchers getting hurt batting or running the bases, they should start a support group. Strop would be a tough loss for them He's pretty dang solid at the back of that pen.

Not wishing injury on anyone, not even Cubs players, but if he misses an extended period of time, our chances just got better...

Sorrry, I'm not crying.

I could easily see the Cubs losing in the NLDS the way Maddon is managing his pitching staff. And for that matter, the entire team. They're going to be so burned out come October. How great would it be if we ended up winning the division and they lose the wild card game running on fumes?

This is where having next to no depth in the upper minors is biting them. The Brewers, on the other hand, are so flush with 40-man depth that they didn't even have room to bring up useful pitchers like Houser and Wilkerson for the stretch run. Houser would probably either be in the rotation or closing games right now if he were a Cub.

It's weird. I don't like the Dodgers one bit. I think, in a one game situation, we probably have a better chance of beating the Cardinals. Still, I honestly hope the Dodgers sweep them. I just really can't stand STL. Any season where they miss the playoffs is a good one.

Of course, beating them in a postseason situation would be nice too...it's just that the smallest possibility of losing would drive me up the wall. I think I would enjoy a WC game more if it was against an unlikable team vs. an intolerable one.
