Tony Plush

I apologize if this has already come up in another thread, but I've seen some tweets going around the past couple of days suggesting that the Brewers should bring him back to throw out one of the opening pitches of this NLDS series. Boy, that would be fantastic if they did that and showed the replay of that run-scoring play to get the fans jacked up. I know the fans won't need extra incentive to be loud for this series, but that might blow the roof off the place right from the get-go.

Do we have any idea where Nyjer Morgan is these days?

I know he was in Japan or oversees somewhere for a few years. That would be a fantastic NLDS first pitch though...so fitting.

One of my least favorite Brewers ever.

But also one that has a positive place in the recent history of this team. I know there are fans out there that feel showing emotion and flamboyance has no place in baseball, but I always thought Morgan was a fun guy to have on those teams. The guy came through in some clutch situations as well.

IDK, I'd much rather get nostalgic with the Bill Halls, Prince's, Harts, Weeks, etc type guys if they're going to do stuff like that.

ouch, that is like hating Willie Mays Hayes. Picked up of the scrap heap, .357 OBP batting ahead of Braun and Fielder, 3.0 WAR as our primary CF, playoff series walk-off hit.

I thought he was annoying, but no denying his contributions to the team for a few months. Bringing him back the next year was silly. I usually can't stand the "do your job!" crowd and I have no problem with the emotion and the goofy team celebrations, showboating, etc., but I thought the Tony Plush schtick was just weird and didn't get why it was so "funny."

I'll second this. Came up huge in the 2011 season time and time again and for that will live in Brewer lore forever. The Tony Plush act was...odd to me. I love showing the emotions of the game but the idea of an alter ego was bizarre and foreign to me and I am close to Morgan's age.

Maybe have a 2011 team first pitch with Fielder, Weeks, Hart, etc... and include Morgan. As a standalone though, he's way down the list for me. Not as far as Sully from Monster's Inc., but close.

They should bring in Cecil Cooper and Plush to do a combo first pitch - the only 2 guys responsible for playoff series winning hits in franchise history.

It's possible to not be offended by him but think his schtick was stupid, like I do. I don't care when Braun stares down a double or guys do QB sack dances after walks (unless they are Contreras). I just thought it was dumb.

Nyjer Morgan would be a stellar Game 5 guy for the first pitch. I don’t know why he would be a weird standalone guy. He has one of the biggest moments in Brewers history to his name and did so in the NLDS.

Yeah, good call. Dude was a clown.

As mentioned, I appreciated his contribution, but he's a dope.

If this is in reference to my comment...what I said was he would be way down on the list of people to throw out the first pitch. I would much rather see Fielder, Hart, or Weeks before I saw Nyjer Morgan.

Maybe, but T Plush is still nowhere as stupid as rolling with the nickname "Mayor of Ding Dong City"

Do you see Travis Shaw doing interviews as the Mayor of Ding Dong City and not Travis Shaw? Or talking about the Ding Dong City fundamentals like Morgan did with the Plushdamentals? Big difference.

Morgan was fun while we were winning, not so much in 2012. That is when the act got tired for me. During 2011, it was fun!

I never got how anyone could hate Nyjer Morgan. We picked him up for basically nothing (traded Cutter Dykstra, who I believe never even made it to the MLB level), and he really energized the team that year. Cardinals fans hated him, so that was always a plus with me.

I'd love to see him back for a first pitch at some point.

I actually think his attitude fired up that team. That team seemed to thrive off his antics...which I didn’t really have a problem with for the most part. I like a little energy, I like a guy who doesn’t conform to the super serious office work type mentality when playing the game. He went a little too far towards the end of the year, but again...I think that team thrives with that personality.
