New Marlins Logo

I actually like the former logo a lot and their uniforms. Colorful...but that is Miami. Seems like they are shifting from daytime colors to Miami nightlife colors.

I personally don't like the new color scheme or the logo. We will see how the uniforms look with it, but the logo as a standalone just looks off for a baseball logo. Like it should be on some MiLB team.

Still liked the teal best but the orange was ok. I do like that they went red and blue but took different shades to give it their own flavor. I have to see the uniforms first though, I feel like they will look like the d-backs current ones.

I like the original Marlins stuff, but nothing since. Looks cheap and tacky to me.

The new logo and color scheme are very cool. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with their uniforms.

I agree with this. I didn't hate their prior look, but looking forward to seeing the whole uni & branding.

Marlins fans: are we gonna be good this year?

Marlins management: look! Now colors and logo!

1. The logo that was thrown around early yesterday is actually the secondary logo (one on hat). The primary actually has a baseball behind it.

2. I liked their bright orange uniforms....these blue ones, not so much. I think the bright red would have been preferable over the new blue.

3. Marlins fans seem to like them.

4. The design reminds me of when you are in a hat store and all those weird off the wall color combo hats are available. It follows a non classic look much like the D Backs tried with their uniforms.

5. The script on the front just seems blah.

Should've gone with a Miami Vice type logo/font.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Those uniforms are surprisingly bland for how flashy the logo is. I think the M with the fish is horrible and is basically a ripoff of the Brewers M with barley, which I also hate. I'm intrigued by the color scheme. The problem is, just like the Dbacks new scheme, it will look terribly out of place on the field with every other team being incredibly boring and conservative. I might be one of the only people that actually liked the previous Marlins scheme. The giant M wasn't great but the colors were lively and original.

I am with you...at worst it didn't seem worthy of such a quick change. Though I am sure new ownership loves putting their mark on the team. I am probably one of the only ones that likes their bright green and blue seated stadium though...While it is in your face bright it is so Miami and really is fitting.

Bold prediction: Miami and Milwaukee made a deal. Milwaukee let Miami use the italicized "M" because the Brewers are going back to the ball and glove logo for good.

I would love to see the Brewers make the ball and glove logo their official logo and go back to wearing the blue pinstripe jerseys. I don’t think it would happen, but I would be all for it.

I don't like these at all...they are easily the worst of the 3 generations of Marlins logos. They will get a decent reception initially but people will be bored with them in about a year...or less.

Definitely an improvement over the last uniforms, but that's not saying much. Too much they didn't get right. Bland-and-ugly "Miami" font, black M (cap) & wording (chest) on black backgrounds (did MLB's marketing division really not learn anything from the Mets' foolish and seemingly eternal fixation on black?... or Atlanta's navy number on navy jerseys?), black fish on a black baseball..... Yikes!

So far the best Marlins look is hands-down within the variations of their original look -- concept, colors, a fish that looks like a fish but still works well within a baseball team logo.... about anything except the quirky sleeveless jerseys and the trendy-at-the-time black alternate jerseys with silvery-gray "Marlins" across the front (although the gray looks 100x better than the new black-on-black variation).

One of the videos on the Marlins' website interviews Jeter and his wording reveals what I see as the same flawed logic of his hairbrained predecessor, Loria -- something to the effect of "We want to capture the look of Miami." The people there know where they live and see the color scheme everywhere. It sounds like they're more interested in "catching the moment & trends" than making a great, timeless baseball uniform that happens to utilize a color scheme that's identifiable with the city.

Reaction v2.0:

In the late '90s, Sports Illustrated or some similar publication rated all MLB teams' current uniforms. At the time, the Brewers were maybe 2 (of the 3) years into their 2nd version of the post-ball/glove logo (a look I liked a lot, however transitional that look turned out to be). Their take on the Brewers' unis? They put them in the "mall rats" category because the look was changing every couple years -- hardly the flattering appraisal!

That all came back to mind with this new (again) Marlins look..... Except I still really like those mid-'90s looks of the Brewers (yes, even the Motre Bame logo) about a thousand times better than anything the Marlins have done since they went away from their original colors.

Side note on the earlier ball/glove logo comments: I'd like the look better if it were navy & gold, not navy & yellow -- in other words, in the current primary colors. I love that logo, but I still think the current look is their best ever.
