Aguilar was in the home run derby one year ago. Now with the balls juiced to the most extreme levels that records are broken daily the guy can't touch the warning track. Something just isn't right. There has to be more to the story than he sucks.

agreed. I think it's mental. We've seen this so many times. I think he just needs to keep focusing on hitting it up the middle and the other way.

Does this guy struggle from the stretch? The intro of the thread mentioned going to a full wind up. Sure seems different with runners on. That Arcia blooper may have been a key to the inning, just to get him out of the windup.

Wow I guess I never really noticed how bad of a year Cain is having at the plate.

Last year he was always ahead in the count and walked a ton. This year he swings at everything and is 0-2 every ab.

a little awkward on that play at the plate. If it were closer, we could have appealed that they were blocking the plate before the throw.

No, because I'd been looking forward to this series since I saw the schedule and I hate watching him pitch. With just two games and a day off before and after, I was hoping it'd wind up our 2 best starters. Not that I expect them to swing the rotation around to my liking, but this is pretty much exactly the kind of start I expected.

Ah, I see.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Ben gamel is what Matt gamel was supposed to be

No, Matt had more power. Matt Gamel was more Shaw than Ben.

add a lot more batting avg. Mat was supposed to hit .280+ with 20-25 hr and nice obp

First post ever on the in game thread (or anywhere)

I think the league realizes he's struggling and challenges him the first pitch. He couldn't jump on a waist high 91MPH fastball in his hot spot just inside the center of the plate. Pitch 2 was also in the zone so he was down 0-2 on strikes. He just isn't seeing the ball well and it's anyone's guess why.

*Mat

I only point that out because the spelling of his name always bothered me.

I blame Mr. and Mrs. Gamel. They insulted the gods by spelling Matt, Mat. They could have saved their wrath by spelling Ben, Benn...
