Emil's is made in Watertown. A lot of fundraisers in my area (Washington County) use them.

Yep, just realized I confused them with Lebbys for some reason.

WI is actually a bit of a frozen pizza mecca. I remember reading somewhere that Green Bay consumes more per capita than Chicago, and WI is the national leader. If you go out of state, you'll find most grocery stores don't provide as many options as we have here.

Nor the variety of sausage, cheese, soda, or snack foods.

I tried the Pothole pizzas (got the Packer deal on Monday, $7 for 2 pies)

Didn't care for the cheese only pizza, but the pepperoni was pretty good. Biggest gripe was the mess that was made.in my oven from cheese overflowing and dripping down.

Overall a good deal, but there are other frozen pizzas for ~$4 at the grocery store that are just as good or better.

I appreciate the suggestion though!

I've heard before that only certain types of flour work well if you're going to overnight-proof dough in the fridge. Anybody know what I should be using? OO?

If you go to the Woodman's off of I-94 near hwy 50, the frozen pizza section is about the same size as most regular frozen food sections.

TIPO "00"

I use the red bag Caputo, personally.

Make sure to use a calculator to figure out the proper yeast needed and give yourself time the next day for the dough to warm up/finish rising.

I've had the best results using a crust that uses both 00 and all-purpose flours. There is a Roberta's dough recipe you can Google that I've used a bunch of times. Sometimes 00 can be hard to find. Glorioso's has it.

anyone else ever try Lippers. I think you can only buy them at Piggly Wiggly's around Milwaukee. Very underrated. Been years since i bought one, but happened to be at one yesterday and picked some up. 4 dollars not on sale and so very good.

Had a Red Baron thin crust pepperoni for the first time in years.

Unimpressive, just like I remember.

If you can get a Red Baron for $3 or less, it’s a good value pizza. If you’re paying more than $5, you’re going to be disappointed.

The only reason I had a Red Baron pizza to begin with was because they were 3 for $10. Hadn't had one in years so I thought I'd give them a try.

The bummer is, we still have 2 left. lol

That's one I'd save for a bartime pizza.

3 for $10 isn’t a bad price (especially these days). I still contend Red Baron stacks up well against anything $3.33 or less. But is it great pizza? No.

Jacks is far better than Red Baron, and remains my go-to cheap pizza...

Man, most definitely.

Jacks was my Chili Cheese Fritos of cheap pizzas. A go to every time. If cooked just right, it's actually quite fine. Gotta stay away from too soggy a crust tho. Definitely needed a browned cheese to help that crust not sog.

Do you all remember 'Mr. Z's' It was that mass door-to-door sold pizza in SE Wisconsin (at least?) in the mid 1990's. Not a bad quick pizza - vastly overpriced due to the fundraising component.

I'll never forget being a teenager at Indiana University in 1996-1997 and opening my eyes to 'Big Ten Pizza' and their perfect coke and side of ranch. I had never dipped my pizza before. It was world changing. LOL.

Went to a concert last night and made an Orv's when I got home. It was a slow rising crust or something. It was really good. I'm shocked at how good it was. I picked it up in a 4 for 10 deal or I may not have tried it. Tried their taco pizza and didnt like it compared to other taco pies.

Yep. Cold oven @ 405. Pizza is ready about a minute after the oven dings that it's come to temperature. The thinnest of crispy layer on the bottom the way pizza is supposed to be.

And get a package of shredded gourmet mixed cheddar cheese and put a handful or two on top of it before putting it in the oven. Jack's skimps on the cheese, but the gourmet cheddar on top fills the cheese gaps, melts nicely, and adds an excellent additional flavor to the pizza.

Papa Murphy’s used to be a really good value, but now a large pizza is $15. They run $10 specials regularly, but you can’t just walk in and expect a good deal. When they first appeared in Wisconsin around 2000, they were a great alternative to chain pizza shops ($7 or $8 for a large). Now Domino’s, Little Caesar’s, and Pizza Hut all sell cheaper pizzas.

Another benefit to the Pothole pizzas?

Leftovers are great cold!

A lot of frozen pizzas are horrible the next day cold...
