Washington Warriors? I'd be good with that! Some of the others bandied about, Redtails, Generals :laughing , Federals. Warriors is not offensive is it? :indifferent

Warriors is not in and of itself offensive to my mind...but people I've heard that suggested and I've heard pushback against it. I guess because it's generally been accompanied by other Native American logo's that have been.

DC Comics...because the franchise is a joke.

Might as well capitalize on DC Comic's biggest character... DC Jokers.

Name changes always reminds me of when this stuff first came up and there was an intermural basketball team somewhere in Utah, made up of all Indian players, who gave themselves the team name The Fightin' Whites.

Sounds like it will be possible that the NFL will be playing in mostly empty stadiums with a max capacity of about 20%.

The Ravens have put out their plans for the season. The Ravens will only have 14,000 fans at their stadium.

Probably a good idea Mahomes signed that contract because it is not looking good for future revenue for the league. Probably going to be a cap reduction at some point if this continues.

Yeah, I wonder what they'll do about next years Cap. Early projections with no fans had the Cap dropping to about 120 million next year. I'm sure that was on the low end, but it's less than half what the Cap was projected to be and above what the Bengals for example have already committed to next years cap.

So I'd guess they'd work something out among the owners and the NFLPA.

But after this year, not much reason to think that the Cap won't continue to go up. Unless pandemic's become a trend, the long term future of the league shouldn't be impacted too significantly.

Phase 1: Washington announced that they are parting with the Redskins moniker.

Phase 2: I still have a chance...

Ok, I admit that I didn't think of the Tuskegee Airmen until I Googled it. Would the hawk be their mascot? Or an airplane?

BTW, I had a red-tailed hawk fly over me screeching on Sunday as I tended to my fruit trees. He is a regular visitor to my house as I have a large field he likes to hunt on. But it was the first time I heard him screeching 4-5 times. Not sure if he was annoyed that I was out there or not.

I dig the Red Tails because of the neat Tuskegee Airman history, but how does an Alabama-based military unit make sense for a DC-based team?

Some of the pilots were from the DC area. You can tie it into DC being the home for all of the military as it is the nation's capitol.

Going from Redskins to Red Tails seems like an opening for a lot of misunderstood derogatory comments though. I don't know if Red Tails is a common enough term for most people to make a connection. If you'd have said the Tuskegee airmen, I knew that group. I didn't know the Red Tails name.

if Marquette thought it was a good idea to be the gold, then Washington can be the Red. Wasn't on the copyrighted list atleast.

I like Red Wolves or Hogs personally, but I can see how the later wouldn't go over well. Redtails is good too. This serves Daniel Snyder right, he sat for years when he knew it wasn't a battle he could win. Now he is going to have to pay off some guy who has been buying up names throughout the years, because he knew eventually he would have to change it.

I think you are giving Snyder too much credit. He seems like that Type A, cocky CEO that believes he can win any battle.

It was also kinda a tricky subject. It SEEMS like it's so blatantly racist, but the Post did do some polls and most Native American's at the time not only didn't think it was offensive, it was the team the largest pct of them rooted for.

I believe that was from a 2016 poll in the WaPo. So that gave him the validation he needed to stick to his guns. I honestly wasn't sure if it was something that Native people cared about deeply or if it was just something that I assumed people would find offensive.

I don't think he's going to come out of this any worse for the wear. People didn't like him before...but not to anyone who is upset they're changing it, he can just pretty much say, "hey, I had no choice given the current climate."

Really though...kinda blows my mind you can have a Nickname like that in 2020...but when things are around for a long time, you tend to get a bit numb to them.

Snyder will call them Washington Team 8596 if it's savings him from paying for licensing rights.

Per one late-night comedian, "The Washington Twelve-Digit Tracking Numbers".

A lot of the allegations seem a little fishy. One is trying to tie in Gruden sleeping with the same chick as a RB, RB gets benched (even though he really didn’t), and the RB that replaced him missed a block leading to Alex Smith almost losing his leg. The paying the refs scheme also seems pretty questionable...and nude photo shoots with the cheerleaders...and pawning them off like they are pimps to elite season seat holders?

Some of the more wild allegations seem a bit, too wild. I’m sure some of it may be true...but all of it? Not so sure.
