Playoff Roster

Normally there's a bit more debate here about who's going to be on the playoff roster, but this year seems pretty clear cut. Houser starts game 1, woodruff game 2, lindblom game 3 if we get that far. Pen hader, williams, peralta, suter, claudio, yardley, knebel, rasmussen, topa, black. 13 total pitchers, I'm assuming Anderson isn't ready by game 3 so he's out.

Keep both catchers, vogelbach, gyorko, arcia, urias, sogard, peterson, hiura, Taylor, braun, garcia, yelich.

Anyone disagree on anything? Seems very straight forward, and a bit of a mismatch on paper to say the least.

I would expect Suter to start game one, with it being a Peralta piggyback or more of a straight bullpen game. Woodruff to start game 2 on regular rest. And then pray that's enough to end the series and avoid a game 3.

If Vogelbach is out, does Billy McKinney make his Brewer debut in the playoffs? Believe the cutoff for playoff eligibility was September 15th and we claimed him on the 14th.

I don't think adding a guy who can't hit or defend would help our already slim chances.

If Gamel isn't playing, Vogelbach isn't playing, who are you putting on the roster instead of McKinney? Healy? I'm not saying he should be on the roster, the options aren't exactly endless though lol.

Mathias maybe?

Mathias anyone?

This has to be the worst playoff roster ever......no matter who we add.

I’d welcome Cain showing up.....

Yeah it’s going to be interesting listening to the talking heads comparing our rosters and chuckling their way through their analyzation and opinions. The talent difference is massive.

No thanks, Cain bailed on this team long ago.

That's really unfair. I'll pretty sure if you opt out, you are not allowed to come back based on the rules.

Mathias could definitely be an option yeah. Good call there.

Without off days there isn't really much of a debate. Pretty much the same as the regular season roster.

Our lineup is so bad and optimism so low that Gamel, Pina, Mathias, and McKinney are our ringers. Next up, 2019 AAA batting champion David Freitas.

I'm not sure that the team even believes it can win, how can we?

taking a look at 2018 roster construction (the last time the brewers played a postseason series immediately after the conclusion of the regular season) . . .

the brewers had two days off after playing game 163 in chicago before starting a best-of-five series in colorado.

the brewers have two days off before starting the wild card series in los angeles.

the 2018 series was scheduled for two days playing, one day off for travel, two days playing, one day off for travel, one day playing.

the 2020 series is three consecutive days of playing.

in 2018, the brewers opened with 11 pitchers (44%) and 14 position players (56%). they used only 8 of the 11 pitchers, but all 14 position players in the series. granted, they only played three of potential five games.

with a 28-man roster for this wild card series, but no off days, but the benefit of the designated hitter, will they favor position players or pitchers?
