Absolutely wild end to the Notre Dame and FSU game. It went to overtime and FSU had a fumble via the QB on third down. It pushed them back to a 50 yard field goal attempt. FSU decided to challenge as it was about to be kicked, the kicker kicks it any and makes the field goal. After a lengthy review it was determined to be an incomplete pass and suddenly making it an approximate 35 yarder. The FSU kicker, now iced by his own coach, misses it.

Notre Dame then went and kicked their field goal to win the game.

As Coan throws for 366 and 4 TD.

Amazing how much better a quarterback you are when you have better talent and coaching around you.

He still stunk when I was watching him (as he did with the Badgers). I turned it on with FS down 18 and watched them tie it. Then I turned to the weather and ND won.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Coan was good with the Badgers. 2019 he had 2700+ yards 18 TDs and 5 INTs.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Coan had a pretty amazing game, honestly. He will light up the scoreboard more with ND talent, but he just does all the little things right. Short game is his strong suit, but he was even throwing some deep dimes.

Coan actually lead them on a 40 second drive at the end of regulation that would have put them easily into FG range, but his TE dropped an easy catch. He then threw the INT on the Hail Mary.

It will be interesting to see how he does over the entire year. Maybe in the off-season they force PC to watch all his game to see how his former QB was utilized differently elsewhere.

That ratio last year might have put Bucky in the B10 title game.

They probably beat Northwestern and Indiana if Coan is healthy.

Yes, but he seemed to always stink when I watched him. Be thankful I don't get to watch too many games.

Ohio State lost at home. They might be able to sneak in as a one loss P5 conference champ, but they’ll need to win out. This is why I don’t want to see expanded playoffs. Every game is currently a playoff in college football. It’s exciting.

Texas getting stomped by Arkansas was pretty entertaining. They've been on the Michigan trajectory as a program for awhile, I wouldn't be surprised if moving to the SEC just completes that shift to second tier (at best) status. Even with the SEC hype boost a conference can only squeeze so many teams into the top 25.

FBS Jacksonville State knocking out FSU with a 59 yard TD pass as time expires is golden.

Coupling that with FSU almost beating Notre Dame and Notre Dame almost losing to Toledo and I think UW has a really good chance to beat ND.

ND appears to be a bit overrated.

Oklahoma with the blocked XP for a touchdown. You don't see that too often. Nebraska's ST have been horrible.

It was a long shot but What a sad excuse for a final possession for Nebraska.

Buckys OLine is going to have all kinds of trouble with NDs front 7.

I don't see them scoring more than 21(if that).

Leonard and the D are going to have to win this one.

They gave up 29 to Toledo (4.1 yards per carry) and 38 to FSU (5.5 yards per carry)

I get that but Buckys passing game is so weak they can load the box with little worry about them going over the top.

The Purdue tackles are getting abused and I doubt Beach and Brust will fair any better.

Clemson winds up losing anyway and Auburn narrowly escapes being embarrassed at home by Georgia State.

Well, there will be 1 new team in the playoffs this year at least. (Probably just be Georgia or something like that though.)

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

I’ll go with Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Ohio State.

I’d be shocked if I didn’t get 3 of 4 correct.

Minnesota loses to Bowling Green. :laughing

PJ probably spent too much time on the phone with USC this week.

I would be shocked if USC hired Fleck. Having lived in that area for a number of years, USC does not gravitate toward coaches who come across as being bigger than the program. It's about the school and the brand; there's a reason they've never put names on the back of the uniforms.

True … and I know USC has a history of hiring head coaches with significant connections to the program, but Fleck was a betting line favorite before Saturday’s loss. My comment was more of a jab at PJ, who strikes me as an egocentric job hopper.

The NLRB general counsel issued a memo today indicating her belief that college athletes are employees of their schools, not merely student-athletes.

This further opens the door towards athletes being able to bargain collectively for compensation.

I think we're on our way towards college sports being fully professional sooner rather than later.

Can't wait to hear all the media crying about how almost all college sports went away after footballer's got paid. Does Title IX allow football players to get paid 50k per year and women's tennis players to get paid 2k per year? If you want equality then it looks like all those women on the rowing team will have to get paid as much as footballers. Sound like we are headed towards men's football, men's basketball, women's basketball and a few more women's sports that exist only to equal the number of football scholarships. Would like to think that something like men's hockey could still exist at UW, or wrestling at Iowa, but will enough schools participate in these programs to even make it worth it? Then when big universities get rid of, in UW's case it would literally probably be around 13-15 other programs, look at all the people who work in coaching/support jobs in those programs that are suddenly out of a job.

Media and government get all involved and, as ALWAYS, they will make a questionable situation into a downright bad situation. It's what they do. But at least the media can move to their newly created catastrophe of "the death of college athletics" and have something to write about for the next ten years.
