I really love Burnes, and it’s been such a pleasure to watch Woody throw the ball… but I think Freddy is my favorite. Edited by titletownking

Lots of hard contact, just missing squaring up

The ball. At least they don’t look clueless

If Gutierrez could pitch against the Brewers every game he’d be a cinch for the HOF.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Umps called that a strike all last night.

Well. That was a different ump.

I'm aware of that.

Consistency would be good, if not a requirement.

"Accurate" is the real requirement, and they can't accomplish that. I'd settle for consistent in the absence of good, but only within a specific game. The ump last night doing a bad job and calling pitches several inches off the plate strikes should not preclude tonight's umpire doing the same thing. The call to Votto was certainly correct.

So history in the making?......

Couple more innings before I get excited about that prospect but I don't think anyone has really squared one up yet.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

We've had like 10 of these this year through 5 (or it certainly feels that way), and if one does ever hold up, I think it'll almost certainly be combined.

This will be Peraltas last inning even if he gets through it.
