Consistency would be good, if not a requirement.

 

"Accurate" is the real requirement, and they can't accomplish that. I'd settle for consistent in the absence of good, but only within a specific game. The ump last night doing a bad job and calling pitches several inches off the plate strikes should not preclude tonight's umpire doing the same thing. The call to Votto was certainly correct.
