Why can't they hit at home?

Just looking at the splits, pitching is slightly better on the road, 3.04 vs 3.77 ERA and that probably makes sense given Miller Park.

But why can't they hit at home?

Home: 224/292/364/656 - 24th OPS

Road: 244/322/410/732 - 10th in OPS

This is the first time in Brewer's history that they've had a winning record and are worse at home.

Those home hitting stats are incorrect.

Brewers at home: .224 BA / .315 OBP / .386 SLG / .700 OPS

Still not great, but not as bad as listed.

Can’t wait to play the Cardinals at Busch where they have a .692 OPS.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I long for the games in Detroit where they were really slugging

Seriously, this is a team wide hitting slump that has lasted for over a week now. And you can see that the players are pressing by the number of wild swings for the fences (even more than usual). Only some of the Cubs most dreadful pitchers were able to coax some runs from them, usually with a handful of walks and wild pitches to help them out.

It would help if the starting pitchers could avoid putting the team behind in the first inning because that just adds to the pressure on the hitters. They have 10 games to straighten this out or we could be seeing something truly historic. I don’t think simply changing the venue to St. Louis or LA is the solution. It has to come from the hitters themselves.

They’ve gone through a few stretches like this before, such as early in the season and in the two series against the Reds at AFF in June and July. They were able to turn things around then, so hopefully they can do it again before it’s too late.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Need to move Amy to the back row.

Unless the hitters have eyes in the back of their heads I would think it would be more of a distraction for pitchers.

It's a good time to slump and face a little adversity. This team has been cruising along for months. Better to get the wake up call now than in October.

As for why they don't hit as well at home...who knows. For whatever reason, AmFam isn't the hitters park that it used to be.
