Yep. They were mainly backups and unproven players last year. They also were ranked #10 in preseason Big Ten polls. Glad you knew this was where they’d be on Dec. 7.

1) You didn't say "last year", you just called them backups.

B) If you watched Davison (who wasn't a backup last year) throw down 29 on North Carolina in the tourney last year and followed Davis at all on the U19 World Cup team this past summer, you would have known that this is a very talented backcourt. Throw in Wahl who is one of the best defenders in the country and a true freshman good enough to start at PG and you have a team that, barring any key injuries, will beat a lot of good teams this year.

Yeah, they look pretty good now. No argument. Glad. Who was saying that this offseason? Maybe you, I guess, and good for you. My guess is not, though. IMO, Davis at least coulda shoulda been looking around for a better situation. But, hey, maybe he did. Maybe this situation just was better for him. I’m just saying I would have at least thought about moving elsewhere when most of the team was gone, leaving mainly (literally) backups of the team and (actually) unproven D1 players. No penalty of sitting a year. He could have handpicked his school for three (plus) years. My guess is that he couldn’t do that upon high school graduation.

I’m not sure any of us had ‘Aleem Ford, NBA Forward’ on our expectations list, so congrats to Ford on both this debut and first NBA points last night!

Davis was literally one of the backups of the team last year.

And Davidson literally started every game last year and Wahl started over half of them.

Not only that but, but Kentucky sucked last year. Sure, they had like 4 NBA draft picks, but they went like 9-16. I guess those guys had starter talent though.

Davis has 20 points but he has had a dreadful second half.

20 points on 23 FG attempts is not efficient basketball at all.

He took some really awful shots in the second half including some terrible looking three-point attempts.

Athletically he can do some things that we haven't had anybody quite like for a while but his strength is not in three-point shooting.

I have the least amount of hope of winning the game tonight as any game since probably the Bennett years...maybe 2018 @PUR or @MSU. There is more than no hope, but I expect Purdue's interior to dominate a la the OSU game. I hope I'm wrong. And I hope Jonny can distribute the rock a bit tonight. He draws so much attention that it should leave somebody else open.

What an effort from this team. Davis has to be gone to NBA after this season, hey? Projected lottery pick from what I’ve seen lately.
