OF Corey Ray has been activated off of Nashville's 7-Day IL.

Let's hope he can continue that fine form he displayed the week or two before his injury. It was his best run of 2022. Stay healthy, Corey!

Word on the street is that LHP Antoine Kelly, RHP Justin Jarvis, and OF Tristan Peters will be promoted from A+ Wisconsin to AA Biloxi this week.

Vassalotti, Morales, and Garabitos would seem to be obvious choices to go to A+.  Jordan, Cornielle, and Rodriguez would be choices to fill the rotation.  Not sure if any AA guys go to AAA.  There might just be some releases like Hernandez and Zavolas; veterans that are not performing well.

To the best of my ability, I believe the brewers have 171 players on the active rosters stateside.  Not exactly sure how they treat players on the DL.  But the max is 180 stateside.  So with 20 or so signings from the draft/UDFA, something has to give shortly.  Expect to see some cuts coming in the near future.

Turns out that whether it is partially true or not true at all, this is not fully true, and now it has having repercussions for others  in ways that I am very much responsible of propagating via a tweet. So this is a major lesson for me, and the site, and I am humbled and saddened by my action, but moreso for any people that were caused pain and inconvenience by it throughout the Brewers organization, and there were several.

(We do know Tristan Peters call-up will be happening, announced by Manager Joe Ayrault.)

It is not an excuse that we get caught up in Trade Rumors season and such, and whether it spills over to the minor league side of things. We will not be able to always immediately moderate posts like the one quoted here, but if we do see a post like this, the moderators will be quick (as we can be) to remind that nothing is official until it's formally and officially announced by the organization or by the affiliates, or in rare cases, in a social media post by the player himself. In some cases, we will be hiding and removing such forum posts.

in late March, I am the first to remind everyone here that we need to wait for the formal affiliate announcements of the rosters. It is, in short, atrocious that I allowed myself to bypass that train of thought here. Lesson learned the hard way.

To anyone impacted, I sincerely apologize. We and in particular myself, will do better moving forward.

Just spoke with Hendry Mendez who said he is feeling better today and resting.  His hope is to return to the field in a matter of weeks, if not sooner. The member of the Mudcats coaching staff that I spoke with is much more cautious, however, telling me that the organization expects him to return this season, timeline uncertain.  Whatever the case may be, I’m sure it’s safe to say that we are all just happy that his mind is on returning to the field already.

RHP Connor Sadzeck declined his outright assignment to Nashville and is now a free agent.

I thought he was a guy who could bounce up and down between Nashville and Milwaukee. I guess he thinks he'll get picked up by a major league team.

Some ACL moves which I think we missed earlier:

- RHP Nick Merkel (recent UDFA signing) assigned to ACL Brewers Blue
- RHP Ryan Brady (recent UDFA signing) assigned to ACL Brewers Blue
- RHP Delson Guzman activated from ACL Brewers Gold's 7-day injured list (he also made his season debut on July 30th)
- C Nader Garcia assigned to ACL Brewers Blue from ACL Brewers Gold (probably because C Darlin Lora hasn't played since leaving a game early on July 23rd)

  • OF Garrett Whitley, in a corresponding move, was assigned to the Biloxi Shuckers from the Nashville Sounds. We can only hope Garrett has a similar type of impact we have seen from INF Andruw Monasterio.
  • RHP Ryan Middendorf made quick work of his Carolina stint. He is headed north to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He will finish his 2022 Low-A work with a 0.00 ERA across four outings, 8 IP, 13 K, 5 H, 2 BB. Congratulations, Ryan!
  • Reidy Mercado was assigned to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers from the ACL Brewers Blue (where it appears, early at least, he is primarily playing the outfield)

- OF Terence Doston assigned to AA Biloxi from High-A Wisconsin

Interesting move, he hasn't been anything special in Appleton.  Only 22 at bats.

Is this just because they had to have a body in the OF due to so many departures?

They definitely need a body in AA Biloxi after losing 3 OF to promotion and 1 to injury.

Doston’s a speedster who’d done well enough in Arizona last year that I thought he’d be in the Carolina OF mix. Obviously the team has opted for a different approach.

Not to mention Peters was recently promoted to Biloxi, only to be dealt before actually playing a game there.

I figured this may be coming. Corey has been playing much better of late, but given the designation off the 40 and the promotions, it made sense they'd make Corey the everyday CF in Biloxi. Doston will most likely be the swing OF and PR. Doston is speedy as all get out, but he has a minus arm, and is a poke it contact hitter given his smaller frame. He's had games where he's made good contact and can hit to all fields. But, this is a young man whose game will most likely be drag bunts, poke singles etc. His hypothetical upside plays to someone akin to Juan Pierre if he should reach his potential - which we obviously hope he does. Hopefully, he gets PT to work on his skills.

OH! It would appear, corresponding to the Vallecillo and De La Cruz ACL -----> Carolina promotions, Carolina has also sent RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez to High-A Wisconsin! A big congrats are in order for the former Mudcats 2022 Ace. Well done, Carlos! And, best of luck!
