There's also this:

Matt Schneidman: "Contrary to an overnight report, the Packers have not lined up any trades for Aaron Rodgers, according to a source."

But that wording is not inconsistent with what I posted. Yes, that is true that "the Packers" have not lined up any trades, it is Rodgers who is out exploring options for his salary and possible trade parameters. Heck, the reason the Packers haven't talked to Adams could be that Rodgers also wants Davante to be part of the package.

There's going to be a shortage of straws with all the grasping you are doing...

And Aaron Rodgers is vaccinated... Right? :)

What does this have to do with pontificating and theorizing possible Rodgers trade scenarios and rumors? Color me vexed.

I think this makes some sense:

"12 wielding the power and influence of his position to help 17 feels like the most likely answer to most of the remaining questions on his decision."

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

We are 2 days away from the deadline to use the franchise tag and a lonnnnng ways away from the 20M or so under the cap that we'd need to be to use it.

As a note, the Packers don't have to get under the salary cap until March 16 at 4pm EST.

So if Rodgers says he's coming back, we'll have a week to redo his deal - and make other moves - to get under the cap.

Even with tagging Adams it can be done. Cut Z. Smith, Crosby, Cobb, few others. New deals for P. Smith, Alexander, and a few others. Won't be easy, but it can be done.

Ideally you can get a new Adams contract done as well to lessen that pain for 2022.

To be honest i thought they would still be much farther from getting under the cap at this point...10 days is a ton of time, and the cuts may not happen until the last minute anyways - and definitely won't happen before we know whats going on with Rodgers.

Adams won't play this season under the franchise tag...but the Packers could get all their other ducks in a row including Rodgers, get just below the cap with a tagged Adams right at the deadline on the 16th, then get him a new contract that lowers his 2022 cap # in order to sign their draft picks.

Though all of this is basically true, I do think it's fair to question why some of the logical and basically 'lock' transactions haven't been done yet- IE, there aren't a lot of people who think anything other than Z must be cut before March 16th. So why haven't they done so yet?

Feels like there's a bunch of moves that will come in a major flurry of activity, either within the next day or shortly thereafter. Possibly both.

I think many of those obvious moves hinge on what Rodgers opts to do, and in turn Adams - if both of them want out and trades happen before the 16th, then Gute may look at some of those other veterans who would be obvious cuts (Z. Smith or Billy Turner for example) as potential last minute new deal / restructure options because they'd have more cap room to work with in both the short and long term.

I do agree that alot will happen this week (starting with tagging Adams and hopefully getting definitive word on Rodgers), but still a ton will happen on the 14-16th next week at the last minute.

I really struggle with 'reporting' that begins with "The Packers apparently just made an offer".

I equally struggle to comprehend whether this source is reliable, or the same one who was feeding garbage to ESPN reporters last summer.

Rodgers is reportedly going to make a decision by Tuesday. if so, we can get the drama over and just get on with the offseason. So many teams are just waiting on the guy.

At this point, I'm just ready for a decision. Trade or re-sign. tired of the drama...

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Exactly. Just make a decision.

Just speculating - but perhaps rumors of Rodgers getting back with Shailene Woodley are complicating the decision.

But whatever. Just poop or get off the pot.

I'm willing to administer the enema... :(

Ok, so for some levity...

At work, we have a social IM (we all work from home) for bad dad jokes. Someone asked this one earlier:

What isn't a koala a real bear?

My answer: Aaron Rodgers doesn't own a koala!

The couple of bears fans at work weren't amused. :)

He isn't koalafied was their answer. I still like mine better.

Your joke isn't a dad joke. It's a smackdown! Well done.

Shameless prediction, Rodgers doesn't make a decision today. Too expected. Not his style.

J/K he's back on a 4 year $200 million deal.

Pat Mcafee tweeted out that he is indeed returning to GB on a cap friendly deal, but the 4/200 is not accurate. Despite the overwhelming numbers of reports, I'm inclined to believe that Mcafee isn't wrong.

I highly doubt this will be a "cap friendly deal" unless that means he will be taking a ton in signing bonus and it will be "cap friendly" for this next season.

Right, cap friendly i would assume means we aren't totally screwed for a year or 2 but the price will be catastrophic in years 3 and 4.
