While MLB.com still doesn’t have a starter listed for the Braves, but we have this information via beat reporter David O’Brien…

Translation: Bullpen game this evening for the Braves.

Jesse Chavez hasn’t started a game this season. In his previous 8 appearances so far his max number of pitches has been 36 and his max innings pitched is 2.2 IP. Chavez pitched for the Braves last season, but actually started with the Cubs this year. As a member of the Cubs he pitched against the Brewers last month on April 10th

Below is Chavez’s line from that earlier appearance against the Crew. Yelich had the RBI double and Tellez had the 2-run home run in what ended up being a 5-4 Brewers victory.

Date Tm Opp Rslt Inngs Dec IP H R ER BB SO HR HBP ERA FIP BF Pit 2B 3B
Apr 10 CHC MIL L,4-5 6-6 BS(1) 0.2 2 3 3 1 1 1 0 40.50 24.10 5 17 1 0

Despite the early struggles against Milwaukee, Jesse Chavez has yet to give up a run in his 5 appearances and 7.0 IP with the Braves this year.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Can anyone confirm whether they brought the bell to Atlanta?

How long before the bell gets it's own Twitter account?

My lasting memory of Chavez came during his rookie year with the Pirates in 2008.

In the last week of the season he entered in the 10th inning of a game against the Brewers and surrendered a walk off grand slam to Ryan Braun as the Brewers continued their push for a wild card spot.

Roughly 1/6th of the way through the season & the schedule picks up a little bit here over next stretch with series coming up @ATL, vs ATL, @SDP, vs SDP and @STL among contenders over the next 30 games, compared to only facing STL among contenders during our first 26 games.

Current WS Odds at FanGraphs 10.4% (4th), BPro 10.1% (3rd), 538 9% (3rd) and BRef 7.7% (4th).

In the Optimism thread it is pointed out that the Brewers have a very favorable, home heavy schedule to end the season, with 20 of the last 26 games at home.

There has to be a counterbalance to that somewhere, and that comes in the next 6 weeks with three, 3 city road trips sandwiched around two, 2 series home stands.

That means that 28 of the next 41 games are on the road and, as pointed out several of those series are against playoff contenders.

We'll learn  a lot more about this team as it goes through this stretch.

I think Philly would consider themselves a contender.

They've definitely had the payroll & names of a contender since signing Harper & JTR in 2019, but have only gone 202-208 over that stretch.

Pretenders for me until they prove otherwise.

They signed Castellanos so of course they are a contender

Does anybody know the full lore of the bell?  I've only caught bits and pieces.

True, but have the Pads really proven anything either?
