The Brewers face the Braves NLDS game one starter from last season, Charlie Morton. So far this season he’s experienced some struggles with slightly declining velocity and diminished command leading to poor results. Here’s the 38-year old’s game log thus far…

Doesn't surprise me considering all of the memorable moments we've had on the holiday. From Bill Hall's 2006 walk-off to Freddy's 13K debut in 2018...

I know the possibility of succeeding is minuscule, but I sort of wish Rowdy would make some sort of attempt on a dropped third strike when the ball ends up 12 feet away from the catcher.

True. But I still think it's a stupid, archaic rule that should really be eliminated. Shouldn't be rewarding the batter for striking out.

There are other rules that may seem stupid and archaic, but my counter would be why should you reward a pitcher if he can’t throw a pitch that the catcher can catch or the catcher if he can’t catch a strike.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I don’t think there would be much doubt that Cain is the last position player on the team that you’d want up with the bases loaded.

Okay Cain. You've earned your contract. But time to ride the pine.

Might as well have Woodruff hit for him.

Lane Grindel said that inning was a positive because they made Morton throw a lot of pitches.

I'm not sure that's a good thing.

What's going to be really frustrating is that I think it will be at least a month or two before Counsell realizes this and actually takes the correct action, which is to bench him in favor of Taylor.

You see this is another reason why you don't use Luis Perdomo as a 7th and 8th inning setup man yesterday in a one run game.  We need an innings eater today and this would be a perfect situation for him to come in and pitch three or four innings.
