You see this is another reason why you don't use Luis Perdomo as a 7th and 8th inning setup man yesterday in a one run game.  We need an innings eater today and this would be a perfect situation for him to come in and pitch three or four innings.

Not this again......

Braves don't even have to put the ball in play to score runs. If Ashby keeps this up he'll find himself the #6 starter behind Woodruff.

Who knows who the #6 starter is.    It’s not like we win much when burnes pitches either

Renfroe crushes it to center for an out…….Braves getting lots of soft contact hits……..randomness of baseball……it’s the walks that kill you.

Thing is....Morton has been just as wild as Ashby in the early going here.

And not being able to put the ball in play with the bases loaded.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I don't know who else is listening to the radio, but Lane Grindel with this Josh whatever-his-last-name-is is a seriously bad radio team.  Like, really bad.

Cain yeah. That was terrible. But Peterson hit the ball hard with a .630xBA. The Brewers lead the Braves in hard-hit balls 5-2 right now, with Renfroe's being 104.2 mph off the bat with a 27 degree launch angle, yet somehow staying in the ballpark.

Not sure how long they can continue to put Cains name in the lineup.

Bottom line it's time to put the old horse out to pasture.

This has turned into a frustrating series. First series loss since the opening one against the Cubs. I'm definitely ready to go back to facing the Reds.

Looks like we are going to need some serious mothers day magic to pull this one out.  Paging bill hall.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

It was gonna happen.  Happens to every team.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

When they change the game to “who hits the ball hardest” I will care more about these things.

But, I’m old fashioned, and a ball like Peterson’s looks like a sharply hit easy out.

Again, it's a probability thing. Balls that are hit harder have a much greater probability of turning into hits and, over the course of a season, will produce more hits. It's always been that way, too, so not really about "new" vs. "old" either.

This team has 5 terrific starting pitchers. At what point do they stop trying to shoehorn a 6th into the rotation, and just let the 5 they have shove? Ashby ain't ready for this yet.

You're right. He's going to have to work on his control issues in the bullpen at the very least. Ethan Small deserves his shot, too.

It doesn't help that he's used out of the pen too. Either start him full time or leave him in the pen.

Why didn't Woody start today?
