I get the frustration, I really do. But sometimes I think some of you would be better off following the NFL, where you can watch your team lose three or four in a row & then happily dump all over them & then bury them. Anyone who saw a team lacking from the beginning, and sees things playing out the way they predicted, good for you. But it's way too early to write this off, it's way too early to blow anything up. They need to play much better. That transcends "they're only beating bad teams" or "wait until they play so-and-so". If they find some consistency, they'll win more than their share of games, regardless of their opponent. I have no idea if they'll fail in that search for consistency, or succeed. And neither does anyone else. One sixty-two.

Maybe but do they win any games if the change is not made?? We will never know of course but it can't be dismissed as a non factor.

It’s a matter of opinion and speculation either way.

My opinion is based on the fact that the Brewers lost 4 of their first 5 after Sveum took over so there was no immediate impact. Then they salvaged the last game of a series in Cincinnati before coming home to face the Pirates, who they had beaten 11 of 12 times already. They continued that domination by sweeping that series and then won 2 of 3 against the Cubs who didn’t field their best lineups.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

For me, this isn't about debating the merits of Sveum. They were 3-11 in Yosts' last 14 games, and hadn't reached the postseason in what seemed like forever. They were facing the prospect of missing out on the playoffs after acquiring Sabathia. They felt the need to do something, which I agreed with under the circumstances.

Things could be way worse, but man is it hard to watch a team that just can't hit to save its life.

I think Patches O' Houlihan said it best. This team and baseball, in general, is just a futility parade with most hitters making out greater than 70% of the time. With the increase in K% and the cratering of BA does anyone in the commissioners office think that this is an interesting product? This team has a $130M payroll and the product is just crap.  I don't care that they're in first place in a division filled with abysmal teams.  So they're the champions of the *******?  Yeah that's a real rallying point.

Agreed. You would think that with the style of ball Counsell came up playing he would not be a fan of hit a home run or die baseball but this team is that and thensome.

Yep. He either is fine with it or feels they have no other options. Looking at what's on the farm I think they're trying to get away from that, of course it then depends on how people pan out.

Not going to blame the offense for this one. They need relief help. Gotta has been horrible as of late, Suter has been bad all year and Chi Chi shouldn't be on this team.

Unlikely any team that faces the Brewers are not going to be thrilled about seeing Burnes and Woodruff along with the Brewers bullpen with Williams and Hader. That is not something a team is going to want to see.  You are fooling yourself if you think that is something another team will want to see.

The other team's pitchers might be happy; all they'll need is 2 or 3 runs in support.

This, truly. The team is in first place. So if you just look at the standings, there's not much to gripe about.  But then you see the way they manage to lose when they ought to win, especially against mediocre teams, and often with good pitching wasted.  So it's hard to have confidence in the long run.

Is the 0-2 record by those 4* (Williams was out) in last years playoffs what scares other teams the most or the 2 shutouts or 6 total runs in 4 games that the pathetic offense (probably better than this years) was able to muster?
